You know, I keep reading this letter and wondering if a tape recorder would be allowed. At least that way we could record that sound of the TT V-8 in the M5 (which I assuming will be there).

Per the letter in the mail and attached to this thread (pg.5), you should be fine bringing an audio only recorder. However, this fact may change when signing the confidentiality/privacy agreement(s) upon arriving at BMW's track.

If you want to bring it with you to the event, you can. Just be prepared to possibly leave it behind with your cell phone, camera, etc.

avlnch and his brother (somebody has to drive that other Individual M5) are going to your session nlpamg. Isn't that right avlnch?

I'm not sure if any other Board members will be at my earlier session. But the Swede (our fearless leader Gustav) is planning to be there but I don't have confirmation of his travel dates.

I will be in Marseilles on the 5th as I don't fly home until early on Monday Sep 6th. So while I'm not planning on crashing your "gala dinner", I'd be happy to meet you guys for a drink before your event officially starts. I won't be staying at the Sofitel at that point (too pricey for me for a week) but I will be cruising around in a small rental car and staying at another hotel called The Arquier (http://www.arquier-restaurant-hotel.com) which is at the base of an ancient aqueduct.

Sure, I'd really like to meet you guys up for a drink before the gala.

My flight arrives at 11:45am that day and I'd like to go take a look around Marseilles, so sometime before the Gala, we should all meet up.

Let's all exchange numbers over PM so we can keep in touch when we arrive.

I'm here. Got in last night. My session starts with drinks/dinner tomorrow evening. Going on a sightseeing tour today. Did a 2 hour walk this morning around the Vieux Port (Old Port) area. Gustav left yesterday before I arrived so I missed him.

They are doing about 11 sessions (each one cycles through on a day) plus 2 longer sessions at the end for the top M Sales Consultants from around the world. They will be passing out about 67 awards (which I designed for them - my wife owns a trophy business). So I can pretend to be here on business, but really I'm here for fun!

The shuttle driver from the airport is really one of the instructor at the Miramas track and he said that the other day they "lost 3 M3s". One of my fellow shuttle passenger asked, "what do you mean" and the driver replied, "they left the road".

As a counter point to that, Gustav send me a PM last night and said to drive the cars hard and don't be afraid to spin out. Hmmm... I read the waiver I had to sign and if you wipe out a car, you are responsible for it. So, I think there is a fine line between exercising the cars (M3, X5M, X6M) and trashing them.

Looks like the voice recorder will be let into the track area. But any F10 M5s are likely to be "far away" from what I was told. We will see...

@nlpamg - contact me via mark@markcarson.com or leave a message with the BMW desk at the hotel. I will say in touch with them, even on your session start date. I have a cell, but its an Intl rate call, so I'd rather not use it.
