OMG! 600hp!? Read on Wikipedia 10.26.09

So I was reading up on the SMG III on my '08 M5-- and came across this...
I truly hope that this is/will be true!

"Recent developments by other manufacturers, specifically the production of the more powerful Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG (507 bhp (378 kW; 514 PS)), Audi RS6 (C6) (426 kW (579 PS; 571 bhp)), and the second generation Cadillac CTS-V (556 bhp (415 kW; 564 PS)) which bested the M5's Nürburgring lap time, has inspired BMW to go back to the drawing board. The 2011 M5's power output is expected to hit or exceed the 600 bhp (447 kW; 608 PS) mark, up from its current 500 bhp (373 kW; 507 PS)."

I think it's unlikely that it'll break 600 hp. It would be awesome, though.

Why?? I don't doubt it. They are going to need a car to compete for the next 4-5 years. I would say 625-650 would keep them on top for years.

more hp isn't the answer to the next M5. NA and High revs are the answer...

Thats what ive been saying. They can't afford to have less than 600hp, because they'll be just another fast sedan and have to compete with Audi and Cadillac for market share on price. They have to give people a reason to line up and pay MSRP for the M5. 650hp gives them a one year waiting list, guarantee it.

Sounds good, but wait for the final specs. My guess is around 550 hp is realistic.
