i hope M5 will have 600+ hp or more so the next CTS-V will have 650hp +
Yes and you'll only have to wait 4 years for that 50hp...

I work for BMW and was informed from our National Rep last week. The new M5 will launch in the late summer/fall 2010 assuming everything stays on schedule.
I always thought that BMW waits at least a year after a new production before they bring out the M line or in the 7-series case 760Li?????

I thik it's not turbo.
yes, an engine can be turbo and rev to 9000, but turbochargered engine with 600 hp at 9000 rpm looks strange.
for an example, Ascari uses BMW's modern V8 S62, which outpats 625 hp at 7600 rpm.
I think new m5 will be equipped by modernized S85
BMW will earn my purchase of the F10 through another NA high-revving platform. That is what they are famous for, that's what we bought our M's for, and that is what I would buy one for in the future. There is certainly plenty of room for improvement on the S85. I think if the new M5 is a forced induction platform that is less impressive than the S85, I will heavily consider buying something else.
M knows what the enthusiasts and owners want, M should consult the current owners and take our opinions, that is how return business works. Who cares that everyone is going to forced induction, be different and make something special, like the S85. A TT V8 with a low-mid 7000 RPM redline isn't special in my eyes. I really hope they come through and make this motor fantastic, not good, but fantastic.
Looks like the new 458 is the way to go for you.
9000rpm and all that goodness from NA engine.....

Why can bmw not have two engines for the new m5 like the 55 & 63/65 amg's? There could be a v8 TT and v10 m5 next.
Because the M formula is not just a high-powered engine mated to a series chassis like AMG. The changes in an M car are far more pervasive and repeating this for multiple engines is not cost effective. The necessary compromise would lose its unique character.
