interesting, but until we see a pic of the engine bay its hard to say what engine it will have. I do think that they wont be using a regular v8 turbo+some tuning, or if they are, they are going it at the cheap and utterly not the M way of doing things thus far. time will tell.

They just keep getting uglier and uglier I guess the bar was set to high when the design of the old E39 came out (she's a classic IMHO).

Not sure how you can pass judgement with that heavy cladding. I saw the disguised next generation 7 series and the cladding was really heavy. The rear looks almost identical to this disguised "M5" but without the quad pipes. But yeah, I do agree the E39 has beautiful, classic styling.
Nice find mhh. About time we see something else other than that photoshopped looking E60 M5 with the additional intake vents in the front bumper.
Man 540hp TO THE WHEELS?? If you used a 15% DT loss, that would put it over 630hp at the crank!

Not sure about that. The article says "540bhp to the wheels.." This sounds like a clumsy way of saying the car will send 540 brake (crank) horsepower to the wheels before drivetrain loss. Seems likely there would be a design spec for bhp that could be leaked to the press, but whp?
Sounds like the incremental improvement over the current gen M5 will be greater efficiency (mpg) and improved throttle response through the rpm range vs. the V10, PLUS 40 more ponies (or thereabouts).
I had thought it might be good to be true. What I was really trying to say from my statement was essentially "wow, really? That would be awesome but I'm not holding my breath" haha
