Besides the sad & funny parts of their little Romanian retrospective you should remember: we have the best driving road in the world and sure is better than yours! If you have the chance guys, come visit! Oh, and one of the largest building in the world, built by a dictator :D.
Here is what they have to say about their little visit (the road is at the end of the show). That is if you get the chance of watching the show...

Gustav, if you have the chance, you might want to post this! :) Thanks!

The video is no longer available thanks to BBC, but it should pop up somewhere ;).

Oh and James likes the 760Li better than the S63 AMG L.

The video (starting from 4:40 you have the best driving road in the world):

Sorry that this is off-topic, but had to share. My wife snapped this picture late last week of an absolutely horrible parking job. The nose of the car you see on the right side of the picture is my wife’s car (and she had just parked). So, this person had TWO open parking spaces to navigate and this was the best he/she could manage!! hiha

Well, she finally arrived. It was worth the wait and it was worth the trip to the Atelier in Maranello to look at all the colours, materials and possible combinations.

I'm very pleased with all the Carbon accents I chose for the interior and the exterior. The rear view mirrors, gas tank lid and centre rear diffusor look just ... mean.

The pictures don't really do the car justice. In the flesh she looks aggressive yet classy. I'm not even going to begin describing the exhaust note. The interior is everything I wanted it to be. We managed to get the race atmosphere (the alcantara, roll bar, CF and the safety harness) yet the car is still a true GT when you want it to be a GT. Seats are very comfortable.

Last but not least: the color of the car. Grigio Gerro Met. from the 50-60 colour range is just stunning. This colour changes constantly and the CF accents form a nice contrast.

I'll go pick her up on Wednesday. 3 more nights of sleep and she will be home.

Best regards,

With winter coming in Chicago, I'm not looking to put either of these in snow weather, hence in need of another car for family members to drive on. Something comfy.

I've narrowed down to the 745iL or the S430, in the 2004~2005 range. Wondering if any owners on this board could give me some tips and advise on the S430, specifically how they compare with the M5 (not performance of course), on the maintenance, reliability, and what years to avoid if any.

Thanks in advance - I'm also posting on the MB forum, but trust this one much more. Besides, it is pretty funny to see that the MB forum offers much less DIY and issue discussions on the S-class as compared with ours. Am I insane for trying to go over to the MB side? I mean I already have 4 BMWs... :-)

Should i try to do this all myself, or would it be easier to bring it to a body shop? If so, how much do you think it would cost?

Sorry for all of the questions, and if this is a repost. Tanks guys

Production of GT-R Model year 2010 will start from December 09. This will bring some small
changes in the technical features and appearance of the car.
Changes in the performance
As a result of complying to Euro 5 emission certification level the CO2 emissions will be slightly
lowered to 295g/km and the combined fuel consumption will be 12.5 l/100km. The change will
not however affect the maximum power output of the car. Please note that these figures are
pending the final European homologation that should be done in December 09.
Changes in the technical features
Here is a list of changes to occur on the MY’10:
Suspension
By changing the front spring and damper rates, the ride comfort is improved, while handling
becomes even more dynamic thanks to improved responsiveness and more accurate control of
suspension movements. At the rear, the stiffness of the suspension radius rod bushings has been
increased, giving improved feel and responsiveness during cornering.
Cooling
To improve cooling around the rear of the car, two additional NACA cooling ducts have been
added to the carbon fibre underfloor diffuser which will provide additional cooling to the exhaust
and gearbox. Furthermore, a new, larger diameter pipe connecting the oil cooler will reduce
gearbox temperatures.
Transmission
The logic controlling torque distribution between the front and rear axles when the GT-R is
manoeuvring at low speeds just after start-up, when fluids are cold, has been altered to reduce
rear-axle ‘binding’. Furthermore, the logic in the gearbox has been changed to give a later
downshift from 6th to 5th when being driven in automatic mode, but a more aggressive downshift
pattern is adopted when changing down from 4th to 3rd and from 3rd to 2nd gear.
Another small, but significant update has been to the front transmission mount, which has been
stiffened, reducing vibration through the driveline under high-load conditions.
Brake system
The balance of the electonic brakeforce distribution bias has been moved slightly rearwards,
giving greater braking stability in dry conditions, while a change in design of the rear brake cross
spring has reduced noise and a modified air deflector increases rear brake cooling.
Battery
The battery capacity has improved from 45 Ah for 20 hour to 52 Ah for 20 hour, which also
increased the battery weight by 500g.

Other changes
•
Wider navigation screen (from VGA type to wide VGA)
•
Gun metallic finish added around speedometer and rev counter
•
Darker finish to Nissan & GT-R emblems and wheel centre caps
•
Double clear coat on front and rear bumpers (previously single coat) giving a deeper colour
finish
• Head rests shape changed slightly
• Additional rear seat insulation for improved noise and vibration inside the vehicle
Line up
The end item codes for the line up will change from December production onwards. The new end
items can be found on the list below.

Hi
while I was out driving yesterday I looked in the rearview mirror and realized
that the window was beeing flushed constantly. I tried to shut of the engine,
but no changes, turning the ignition of fortunately shut it down, but when
turning it on again the pump started again.

I can operate the front window washer fine while the rear is running, and
whipers front/back is also function okay.

To temprorarilly solve the problem I tried to pull out on of the switches
on the rear end which should control this with no luck, but this swithc also
had a reference to one of the swithces in front (glove compartment). After
extracting fuse no 43 it has stopped temporarilly, but restarts whenever I put the switch back.

Anyone got any Ideas? It's seems like there is a seperate pump for the rear view window
and this is stuck somehow, could it be a short circuit in this somehow?

Because even the iron block engine of bmw(for example, the M50), also can't charged too much pressure!

And for V8 M5, it is 5L engine, but even sleeved, it seem still not as strong as the supra! not see 1000hp M5, but with 2.xL supra, 1000hp seem not very difficult!

This plate can be removed easily if the car is sold. No info on where BMW will put it but they are thinking.

People have been asking for quite sometime now for us to shoot more video of our 135i with ASR Turbo Upgrades against other comparable horsepower cars and here are the results. For those that aren't familiar with our 135i, it has our upgraded twin turbo package that produces 540whp and 538wtq on 100octane with meth injection. The cars we ran are also built by us and attached below are pics of the mods. This GTR has all of our complete bolt on's with stock turbos which produces an average of 540-550whp. Lastly, the 997TT has all of our bolt on's available with stock turbos producing an average of 510-515whp and 550wtq. I do have to mention that the GTR was breaking up a bit after a couple of hot runs since the plugs needed to be changed. You'll be suprised at the outcome and how the 135i hold it's own against the 997tt and GTR. Just for reference the GTR has previously run 10.89 @ 131mph on pump gas at the track. We only got a chance to run up to 160mph since we didn't realize the speed limiter was still activated on our 135i software. By the time we realized it, we were ready to call it a night. Next time we'll be a little more prepared. All the videos are not the best quality, but you get the picture. Enjoy!

Hi everyone, new guy here.

Couldn't find "introduction" board, so I decided to post in the section where my primary interests are - E39 M5!
A bit about me - name is Alex, I have been lurking on this forum for some time now, but realized I never registered or posted an introduction. I know, not a lot of people do that nowadays, but folks on this forum seem like a great bunch, in a way not a lot of forums are, so I thought I'd tell you a bit about myself/my cars, and how I ended up on this forum.

My BMW obsession started about 6 years ago - with a 2000 Impala Brown 2.3 Roadster that I bought used with 30K miles on the clock. Impala Brown is a relatively rare color, and it was a love/hate color - me and my wife loved it! Classic Brown leather nicely complimented its exterior, and I've done many mods to the car back then.

Me and my wife loved this little Z so much that when it came the time to buy another car for her, she said she wanted a BMW. We leased a year-old 2004 530i Sport, and it was a very different, but nonetheless excellent car. I've installed an ///M-Tech kit on it, and the look was very purposeful.

Sadly, few days before Christmas 2007, my beloved Z was t-boned by a girl in a Chevy Silverado when she was distracted by a cell-phone call. Even though the car was totaled, I was unharmed.

And as soon as I received insurance check, I bought me a 2002 2.5 Roadster, 37th to the last one off the assembly line!

Meanwhile, my son turned 2, and was about to start daycare. Since I was the one dropping him off, and my wife was picking him up, we needed 2 cars able to carry a toddler, and my Z had to go....It was a sad day, but I found a worthy replacement - I took a plunge and bought my "other" dream car - 645Ci Sport. Took me 3 months of nationwide searching to find this CPO 6er in Black Sapphire/Chateau Red with 27K miles on it (41K on it now). Pretty rare color combo, especially with the options on this car.

The lease on our 530i was up, and my wife loved the car so much that we bought a CPO '05 545i Sport (to which I immediately installed an M-Tech pack and black kidney grilles!).

But after driving 6er for a few months, I realized that I'm missing my Z so bad, I can't even enjoy my 6er. So I decided to get another Z - and this time, I wanted an M Coupe.

M coupes are a rare breed, with only ~2200 S52-engined examples and ~700 S54-engined cars made. A search for the right car took a while, but finally I found a 2000 S52 in Chicago that I bought and brought to Texas. The car went through some restoration work, complete overhaul of cooling system, few mods, and this is how it looks like right now:

But....the car bug bit again, and since I was always a HUGE fan of E39 M5, I'm on my quest to find me a good specimen of the "beast"! So, this is how I ended up on this forum. I "kinda" started my search, but mostly looking around, gathering information right now. Don't know much about the car yet, and I have not driven one yet (probably will test-drive a 2000 MY on Monday), but looking forward to learning as much as I can on this board. So for now, I will be looking, and dreaming, hoping to get one soon - the prices are very good right now. So, if you guys have any suggestions or pointers - they are very welcome!

Anyway, sorry for such a long-winded post, good to meet you all folks,

Alex

British sports car manufacturer Ultima is claiming to have beaten the time set by Michael Schumacher in his Ferrari FXX around the Top Gear test track.

In a privately conducted but independently verified test, an Ultima GTR720, powered by a 720bhp Chevrolet V8, lapped the Dunsfold aerodrome circuit in 1min 9.9sec, beating the 1min 10.7sec time set by seven-times world champion Schumacher in his £1million trackday-only FXX.

An Ultima spokesman said Top Gear had ignored repeated requests to feature its cars, so the private test session was organised instead. The GTR720 had been optimised for the circuit, but the spokesman said it was still completely road-legal, unlike the FXX.
