Hello everyone, i�d like to share some pictures of my m5, 174500km and -99 model. I bought it last july and i love it:1: About month ago we installed D2 coilover set, maybe a little bit too hard but better than original. Most of pics have taken before D2 installation.

The roof is full carbon and the first one in the world on a E90 M3. Here is the full story :blink:

Very rarely in life, one will have the opportunity to create something truly unique. Whether it be a work of art, a work of engineering, a work of literature, or anything else, the opportunity to build something that you know has never been done before, and will not be achieved since is an opportunity every person should have the privilege of seizing. For the staff at IND, and for the car�s owner, IND�s Atlantis portfolio car was just this opportunity to make a unique mark on the world.

From the first time I spoke with our client Myke, I knew that his BMW Individual Atlantis E90 M3 was not a car that could be allowed to be in his ownership in factory form. BMW�s Individual program allows the most committed BMW enthusiasts to create their own unique car, with a choice of one-off exterior and interior colors and other options. Myke has a passion for personalized BMW�s that is difficult to match by anybody�s standards, and I knew immediately that we could create an amazing car together.

Through hundreds of phone calls, emails, and private messages, one thing became very clear to me- Myke is not afraid to take risks in creating his own interpretation of the already classic E90 M3. Several moments of constructing the car were downright nerve racking- will the wheels fit the overall theme of the car? Was it a mistake to apply gloss black powdercoat to the already beautiful Akrapovic exhaust tips? Will our hand built Carbon Fiber roof panel fit? Commitments like these required absolutely no fear.

When talking about IND�s Atlantis, the first thing that needs to be mentioned is the color. Available only through BMW�s Individual program, and only with the express approval of the BMW Individual program�s director, BMW Atlantis Metallic is a slap in the face to the average gray, silver, and white cars in your office parking garage. Vibrant does not begin to describe it. Atlantis Metallic shifts from Estoril blue to Avus blue to shades of green and teal, and simply can�t be captured by a single description. All of the staff at IND knew that the wrong modifications would ruin a car of this caliber, and so had to tread carefully.

From the start of the project, the centerpiece of the car would be the completely one-off carbon fiber roof panel. Because E90 M3s never came with a Carbon roof from the factory, we knew that this one item alone would set the car apart from any other like it. Myke even changed the build specifications of his car from a sunroof equipped car to a non sunroof equipped car, just to acquire the non sunroof headliner panel required to install our Carbon Fiber roof! Constructing a Carbon Fiber roof panel is no easy task, but fortunately for IND, Atlantis was in it�s planning stages well before the car even existed on BMW�s assembly line! We began work on selecting the parts and preparing the various components of the car about 8 months prior to delivery, which gave IND and our partners enough time to ensure absolute perfection. IND partnered with a local composites shop that constructs body work for winning ALMS, Grand Am, and Formula cars in order to create the carbon roof panel. Although IND had completed over ten carbon roof projects on E46 M3 cars, no amount of experience will steel you from the uneasy feeling of cutting the roof panel from a BMW Individual M3 with only 1,000 miles on the clock! All of the employees at IND breathed a sigh of relief when, after weeks of preparation, the Carbon Roof panel safely fell into place as if it had been there all along.

IND�s Atlantis Portfolio Project is the only E90 M3 in this color in the world, and the only E90 M3 in the world with a full replacement Carbon Fiber roof, so naturally the wheels could not be something that had been seen before either. I still clearly remember the phone call when Myke called me and said �This car can only have the Neez Model 15 wheels�. Through the three months that Atlantis has been at IND�s facility, many local clients have seen the wheels in person and expressed doubt about the choice. Seeing these wheels on the car, I would install nothing else. The beautiful and complex appearance of the wheels is augmented again by their rarity- this set of Model 15 wheels is the only set in the United States! Small details throughout the car, like IND�s Gloss Black sidemarkers, Gloss Black kidney grilles, and of course the beautiful Gloss Black powdercoated tips of the full Akrapovic Titanium exhaust system accent both the wheels and carbon roof perfectly. Nitto Tires and KW coilovers complete the footwork of the car.

With the Carbon Fiber roof being the centerpiece of the car, a critical point to consider was how to not take the eye away from the hand built masterpiece on top of the car. Brembo 380mm brakes were a must have for the car, and were color matched in beautiful Atlantis Metallic at Brembo�s facility to provide a cohesive look. RD Sport�s front bumper and Challenge�s rear diffuser were both installed as smoothly as possible, with no exposed Carbon Fiber to be seen. This ensured a smooth, together look for the whole car. IND�s custom paint work in the engine compartment carried the Atlantis Metallic and Gloss Black theme throughout the car, and worked to ensure that all modifications look as at home as possible. Dinan�s Carbon Fiber air intake, Rogue Engineering Power Pulleys, and an Active Autowerke software flash round out the power modifications.

Two moments in this car�s build will forever remain in my memory- Myke�s reaction to the car upon seeing it for the first time, and driving the car at the Midwest�s premier AutoBahn Country Club race course.

Preparing for delivery of the car was an all week long marathon of cleaning, testing, and perfecting. Every component had to fit perfectly. Every inch of paint on the car had to gleam as if brand new. Each body piece was buffed and professionally detailed for the best possible result. After a full week of late nights, the big moment for Atlantis finally arrived- meeting its owner after a complete transformation.
Myke slowly walked into IND�s delivery room, and looked at each aspect of the car. I was finally able to show him all of the details we�d included into the car- the gloss black honeycomb side vent that most people leave matte, the gloss black OEM rear bumper mesh, along with the painted and finished matte RD Sport air ducts in their front bumper. The pinstriped details on the M car�s beautiful intake plenum, along with the molded Challenge diffuser. Small touches like this can only truly be appreciated in person. Myke smiled, looked at me, and said �It�s just perfect. It�s exactly right. I wouldn�t change a thing�. Nothing in this business is more rewarding than hearing those exact words from a client. Once the car was thoroughly inspected and formally delivered, it was time to take some photos and video. Any location accessible to the regular public was simply not enough for a Portfolio Project of this caliber- only the best would do. The staff at IND could think of no better location than the AutoBahn Country Club.

AutoBahn Country Club is located in Chicago�s southernmost suburbs, and is a secluded, wooded paradise for anyone who truly loves motorsport. As AutoBahn is a private country club, the chance to drive a car at their North Track in complete private, for the entire day, is not only basically impossible, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The exhaust note of the Akrapovic titanium system gave me chills as we loaded Atlantis on our enclosed trailer. The gleaming Neez wheels and jewel-like Brembo brakes made me absolutely beam. I had a very difficult time concentrating on the task at hand- making sure that the low RD Sport bumper cleared our trailer ramp- staring at the car was all I could do. My mind was occupied with only one thing- AutoBahn�s gorgeous race track.

Pulling into AutoBahn truly makes you feel like one of the privileged few. You park your trailer outside of the massive fenced facility, and have a quick chat with the friendly track marshal inside the small gate building. The look on my face must have given away that I had brought something truly special, and we were admitted with only a few simple questions about the gorgeous Atlantis M3. As the gates opened, we were able to see the private garages of the Midwest�s biggest shops- EuroSport, FallLine, and many others were all there permanently, year round to provide trackside support to their clients. The treelined behemoth that is AutoBahn�s North and South tracks loomed ahead of us. Together, the North and South tracks make a formidable course that is nearly four miles long, with many complex corners, elevation changes, and the years of study and improvement that a track like this commands.

The North Track was our concern for the day. North Track was completely closed and available to us only for the entire day. This would allow ample time to shoot the car. I started Atlantis for the next time that morning, and we began the delicate procedure of unloading the car from the trailer. The beautiful note of the Akrapovic exhaust promised amazing sounds later that day, as the car went around AutoBahn�s North Track at full song. Of course, our goal here was not to set record laps, or to abuse the car, but simply to preview the car�s capabilities. Together, the amazing stopping power of the Brembo brakes, the beautiful sound of the Akrapovic exhaust, and the sharp response of the KW coilover suspension made the car a joy to drive on the track, even at our leisurely pace.

It is a rare opportunity indeed to create a truly unique work- something that has never happened before, and will not occur since. Working to create IND�s Atlantis Portfolio Project car has been an honor and a pleasure, and I know the car will put smiles on the owner�s face for years to come. I�ll take one last stare at our work before it rolls onto the enclosed trailer for it�s long ride home, to Texas.

Hi all,

Just picked up a 2006 M5 with 19k miles, in close to new condition. I like it a lot. I have a question: I was able to adjust the
seats and steering wheel at the dealer, but now neither can be adjusted. All the seat adjust buttons (driver and passenger) do nothing.
I feel like this is a key memory problem of some sort. The seats do move to their stored positions based on which key unlocks the car,
but they can't be adjusted any further. In any case, does any one know what I can do here, barring taking it to the dealer for programming? Also, the lights in the EDC and the POWER buttons don't light. Is this just a thing for the dealer to fix?

Thanks, and I'm so glad to finally own an M5 after years of lurking here. Oh, do you guys all own oil wells to keep this car fueled?

Hi everybody, ive been browsing this forum for many months (getting plenty of inspiration and know how along the way) and thought it was about time i said hello.

ive had my M6 coupe for a few months now after trading in my heavily modded e46 M3 cab for it. its a silverstone blue with silverstone leather example with full options and its without a doubt the best car ive owned so far.

so far the mods are:

eisenmann 'race' exhaust (sounds fantastic!)
software remap and top speed delimt (by E-maps in the UK)
20" x 9" and 20" x 11" custom modular concept wheels (very, very rare in the uk) finished with colour coded silverstone blue centers and outer pin stripe and gloss black lips.
snooper hardwired radar detector.
colour coded and black kidney grills (only fitted yesterday-not shown in pics)

after browsing this forum i have the following mods on order:

H&R springs (im after a decent drop without going the coilover route)
RPI scoops and block off plates
BMC filters
Vorsteiner front splitter
black side grills
exhaust tips are going to be refinished in gloss black to match the rims along with a few other bits.

are there any other mods anyone would recommend?

ive attached a few pics, pre lowering so obviously the car looks a bit high, along with a couple of pics from the local drag strip (won my class first time out:) ) and a quick pic of my old m3 cab for those that are interested (loved the car but the M6 is on a different league!)

Just to let you know I added 1 car to the stable: Alpina C1 2.5

Unfortunately I don't have better pics right now, but I can tell you the car is in quite a good condition and drives superb! Engine feels strong at all revs and sounds like an M20 should mmmmmm

Even though I normally like E30's better with chrome bumpers and window frames, I really think this one is very cool in shadowline!

So, the new beast arrived last week after a long awaited arrival. The new daily driver is just amazing. I wasn't sure about Motorsport doing anything but a naturally aspirated engine or even doing an SUV/SAC. Well, I have to say, I am now singing a different tune. The 2010 BMW X6M is just executed with perfection. It is balanced and is far better in person than in the pictures on the web. This is just a solid piece of engineering. Check out the pix and the videos. The e63 M6 and the Gallardo Superleggera are happy to have a new stablemate. :wroom:

Hi Chaps,

Been a lurker on here for about 6 months, and thought it was about time I said hello to everyone :) So, hello! :)

I've got an M6 of course, 2008, Black, with black Schnitzer rims and thats about it really, shes my cruiser as I travel a lot up and down the UK, by far and above the best car for long distance travelling I've ever owned!! (and also for showing other road users whos boss on occasion :) )

Im looking to do some mods over the next few months, exhaust, and intake, maybe some body mods but not sure if I want to do anything more than that as she's my daily, Ive got another toy for weekend thrash hehe.

A few pics I guess would be good....so they are attached.

Also added a few of my weekender, as we are all petrol heads here Im sure no one will mind :)

Shes a Ferrari 355, heavily modded this one, Challenge wheels, brakes, and some punchy engine mods too.

Some New Mods, Eibach Springs, 10mm Spacers and Some More...

I finally bit the bullet and dropped my car... Thanks to everyone that posted their impressions and pictures of various springs and especially to ezmoney888 for letting me drive his car so I could make a decision.

I've had the Dinan rear sway bar and Dinan front roll control kit sitting in my trunk for months after I had picked them up from Cosmos, thanks man!

AutoTalent got me the Eibach springs and 10mm spacers and they installed it all. Sam and Zoltie were awesome, as usual. They are the best shop that I have worked with, bar none. They are very knowledgeable, have great prices, are very friendly, have incredible customer service and support and they're great guys all around. I've dealt with them since I had my e46 M3 and they have never let me down. They come highly recommended.

As far as the ride, I've had the setup for about a week (I just got it aligned today at West End Alignment, thanks for the tip RPi!) and I'm liking it. The ride is stiffer and a tad bit more harsh. The stiffness and harshness is a definitely noticeable, but it isn't terrible and it isn't bone jarring. It's just a notch stiffer than stock. However, the car feels much sharper and handles noticeably better. There is far less body roll. The improvement in handling definitely cancels out whatever added harshness the springs give. Plus, I think it looks a whole lot better. I'm pretty happy.

There is a pic of my ProClip phone holder here as well. Highly recommended. Does not require any tools, screws, drilling or modification to the car for installation. It just clips on to the seams on the center console. It holds my Treo 755P.

2000 Silverstone gets Facelift - (Bandwidth Hog)

After deciding there wasn't anything I was interested in switching my daily driver for, I decide to give it a facelift so it looks good for it's 10th birthday next year.

Here's what's changed:

New front bumper
Vorsteiner CF hood
New headlights
New tail lights
De-badged (inc Dinan)
Removed rear lip spoiler
Removed front fog lamps - custom grills
Removed headlight washer jets
New kidney grills - painted gloss outer edge and flat on the slats
Gloss black roof
Painted body molding
Clear bra
Tinted windows

Bodywork done by RJ of RJ's in Pleasanton, clear bra and tint done by Vincent at Omega Werks also in Pleasanton.

Shameless plug for the guys that did a great job.

A month later....

So I've been putting in hours reading the board and working on the car. So far I've replaced the tires with Conti DWS A/S, as they came highly reviewed, and I'd rather have some traction for the couple days of snow we have a year here in Seattle, not counting last year. I've isolated the cassette player squeak to what I believe is the driveshaft center support bearing. It was easier and cheaper to just buy a new DS and guibo, so this weekend I'll replace that along with installing the e60 shifter per the board's recommendation. I'm thinking I probably have the original "lifetime" fluids in the tranny and diff, so I'll be pouring in some Royal Purple Synchromax and MaxGear 75W-140 for the LSD. I'm really hoping that will clear up some of the notchiness when the transmission is cold, esp going to a shorter shifter.

I replaced the defective rear view mirror, one exhaust CPS and I did an oil change with TWS 10W-60. I was hoping it would clear up the tick-tick that I have, but apparently not. Does replacing the seals on the Vanos do anything for the ticking? If it would shut the thing up, I'd put in the tighter spline gears that Dr. Vanos has.

I was worried I might have a miss still, so I pulled the coil connecters first, all cylinders seemed to be firing. I bought some BKR6EQUP plugs, pulled what looked to be the original plugs which had pretty good electrode wear. While at it I did a comp. test which showed all cylinders between 205-215 PSI. I still feel that the car runs 'weird'. Kinda lumpy, seems to not be as smooth as the 530i I had before. I'm not sure if it is a V8 thing or if there's another issue. I haven't bought a Peake yet, I have an OBD2 scanner which has no codes/CEL since I replaced the cylinder #5-8 CPS. Are there codes that the Peake detects that would not set off the CEL? What I'm wondering is if it would tell me something about the Vanos not working right. Would replacing the vanos seals possibly solve a 'miss' sound? My big complaints about the S62 at the moment is the ticking (appears to be coming from the #5-8 front valve cover mostly) and the miss which could be my imagination.

I think I have a failing thermostat, as my water temp is about 75C and the oil temp stays pretty low. I'll be doing that as soon as the BMW antifreeze arrives. That could also be causing some issues perhaps. I have a leaky PS hose near the reservior, I'm going to try using a real clamp on it, maybe cut a little old hose off. I've replaced the idler pulleys as they were making a little noise.

I installed my bluetooth ULF and MK4 nav from my old car. For some reason the back windows were tinted but not the front two Cali style so I had the fronts tinted to approximately match.

Regarding the Peake scanner, I was wondering if there's a better diagnostic tool like a PC based setup like GT1. I'd like to be able to do data logging, and I'd REALLY like to be able to do some sort of automated cylinder power balance test, if there's a tool that will do it.

Performance wise, the beast feels pretty quick. Traction control light comes on through 3rd gear - kinda annoying though. Maybe if I'd bought summer tires I wouldn't get that. What I'd really like to do is get my car in a great state of tune and try to lay down a 340 WHP dyno while it is stock. Not sure what I'd want to do power wise, cuz everything is big bucks. The SS headers look cool, but at 3K for 30WHP, the ESS kit starts to look economical at 10K for 140 WHP - or just enjoy it stock.

I'm thinking about precat O2 sensor replacement and fuel filter soon. I've got a lot more detailing to do, the black paint needs some TLC for sure.

After spending about 2k in the last few weeks, I've been wondering if the money bleeding will stop anytime soon, but I felt a lot better talking to my buddy with a Masserati. He's got 395 HP and he just got quoted 18K to do basically a bunch of maintenance - He said that his clutch (some sort of SMG) is supposed to be replaced about every 3K miles or something crazy like that. It makes the M5 look downright thrifty, although we all know we pay for the exclusivity, otherwise we'd all be tuning Subarus on the cheap.

Hey guys. My name is Jeff, my previous car was a 944 Turbo. After spinning a main bearing, doing rod bearings, and four head gaskets, I have moved on. Picked up this e39 M5 yesterday. I was looking for an M3 till I drove this, and then I was sold.

Carbon Black, 60k Miles, Brand new clutch, brakes, etc. Really in great condition. Dirty when I took the pics though!

Halloween has been, for the last few years anyway; a completely terrible day that I just wish to end. Today has been no exception so I went out this afternoon to blow off some steam and burn some rubber/petrol. Went into the mountains and took a few shots while I was there at the Valle Caldera.

Always helps me to get out and row through the gears, go WOT and do some burn-outs and power slides.. therapy at its best.

I saw your car on the M5 Board a few months ago and as of a few weeks ago I'm proud to have my own entertainment machine..........
Took me ages to find the right one but here it is... E39 M5 in Le Mans Blue, All the AC goodies including front splitter, wheels, Suspension, rear diffuser, and a rose joint quick shift box.
Interior is pretty unique however I don't think it's individual.

Hi everybody.

I bought myself a lovely M5 yesterday. I have a few initial issues I'm working through, but so far I'm loving it. I recently sold my Audi B7 RS4 and thought I was going to struggle finding something to replace it..... how wrong was I?!?!

I have bought a Black E60 AC Schnitzer M5, and am the friend of Lee (GT Two) that he mentioned in his post. It was very odd that the two of us picked up black M5's within a day of each other.

I've attached a few pictures from when I picked it up. I'll try to get a few more nicer ones.

Car is running strong. As for pictures Gustav, I did not have the time. Got one picture left of the new engine in the bay and another that is complete.

The power band is linear yet it comes on earlier and it just pulls all the way to redline. 1st and 2nd gear is just ridiculous because there is just no traction. Blew away my friends M6 who is now having nightmares and has already ordered the full S3 package. Torque is readily available so the need to downshift has been dramatically reduced. Gear shifts are actually smoother. I guess the billet crank "mates" better with the SMG

I can't speak for the M6 but the suspension has transformed my car. It is pretty impressive. The handling has improved in all respects, reduced roll, understeer has improved tremendously, the rear of the car just follows. The transfer between powering on the rear wheels and braking is much more responsive and balanced. Steering response is unreal, it makes counter steering so much more fun to do. The monoballs are not for everyone, it literally links the whole front suspension into one tight unit and acts like a tuning fork. So hard bumps will resonate into the interior. My advice is stage 2 if you want to retain the comfort. Stage 3, if you want to be "one" with the beast

I just joined today and wanted to introduce myself. My Name is Andy Gardner and I am from Asheville,it I recently purchased a 1980 Alpina B6 2.8 #201 from southern California. There were 2 e21 Alpina's in my town when I was in high school and I fell in love. I have been looking for this car for about 14 years now and finally found it. It was imported in 1985 and has been in southern California ever since.

The former owner of the car purchased it in 1985 when was when it was imported into the USA. I have the original import documents along with reciepts dating into the eighties. This car is currently a numbers matching car however the engine is in need of a total rebuild. Another thing about the car is that it isn't the original color which was Polaris. I believe that the car was repainted prior to entering the USA because all the service records indicate that the car was black. Fortunately the paint job is very thorough and you can only tell by a few scratches and by looking under the front or rear dashes.

I joined this forum because I feel that it is probably the most knowledgeable group of people regarding these specific vehicles. My car isn't perfect but maybe with some good advice from you I will be able to get it as close as possible.

You can find the picture's of it here, This is how I received it. Don't worry the fog lights are going to come off and I have already acquired an original steering wheel and shift knob to put into the car.
