Should BMW "spice up" the look of the new M6?

Are the visual differences between the non-M 6 series (F12 & F13) and the new M6s too subtle? Should BMW offer more visual distinction, perhaps as options?

I'm not sure the below "photoshop" is the way to go, but it seems to me they could jazz up the cars somehow. I don't even see a CF trim option in the interior. Is there one?

Well, I got my car back from the dealership after they determined that I have a leak in my fuel tank breather valve. I've seen DIY threads for older M5's replacing this, and was hoping to find one for an E60 so I can attempt this myself. Has anyone ever attempted this before? Anyone know of a DIY thread for it? My searching was unsuccessful.

Looking for some help here after not having much luck with the search feature. I just picked up a 2000 m5 ( wish I had done this years ago) with a dice electronics iPod adapter. Problem is that the music will barely go above a whisper and is very distorted. I have already adjusted the aux volume and tweaked the iPod eq settings. So far no luck, any suggestions?

Input Needed: Transmission Fault and Differential

Need some input here, and after searching for such a topic, I couldn't find any definitive

Background:
Installed Dinan 3.91 Differential Monday. Drove fine, no issues. Come back from gym on Tuesday night, I experience a series of Red COG warnings. Typically happened in/around 4th gear. For example, up-shifting from 3 to 4, or downshifting from 5-4. What is strange is that there is no judder, no grinding, no loss of power, and the car drive fine and still shifts smoothly. The Red COG warning comes up for a few seconds, disappears, then comes back on.

Today, as i'm taking it to the dealer, I get a Yellow COG warning. No symptoms, just idrive warning. Car still drives fine. 4th gear still seems to be the culprit.

Current Situation:
Car is at the dealer undergoing diagnosis. They'll read the codes and let me know. Car has extended warranty through BMW, so I hope the helps.

Question:
Would a Dinan differential, or any modified differential cause a transmission issue? As in cause more stress on the gearing, etc in the transmission? I would like some input or expert advice in case BMW blames it on the differential. I'm hoping its just a bad clutch position sensor, or SMG pump, etc. I already had the clutch, bearings, etc replaced at 49K. Car is now at 57K and is a 2008 MY.

It seems kind of strange that a day after the differential install i'm experience transmission issues. I hope it is just coincidence!!! :oh:

Confirmation of fan clutch going

Hi all,

I've noticed a few times in the past few weeks the sound of roaring air movement coming from the front end for a few moments. Would happen then I couldn't repeat it.

Today I drove about 250 miles - didn't notice it at all. I drive up to my house and hear it again. 84 degrees out, A/C on.

I sat there and revved the car a number of times in gear and in neutral. Heard it equally both times - steady roar from the front building and going away with engine RPMs. Sounds like a fan spinning way too fast :)

I'm guessing that the engine heat, etc. caused my fan clutch to lock up today. I'm hoping it dis-engages a bit for a few days as I'll need to put another 100 miles on the car before i can replace it.

Just looking for confirmation this account is consistent with a failing fan clutch so I can start getting the part and necessary wrench.

Found a moment between new job and getting married to Dyno the car with the RK autowerks stage 1 and 50/50 meth/water. I am very happy with the results and the car is a pleasure to drive.

Thanks to all at RK and Sal at Evolve for the product and continued support! I hope not to bother Jamie and Raza any longer as they have been very helpful and provided some of the very best customer service I have experienced.

I did a total of 6 runs all SAE corrected at 1.01, the first 4 in 4th, the first one of which was only to 6900 RPM. The last 2 were in fifth and the first one of the 5th gear runs was a partial to see how it went. There are a couple glitches on the graphs, one 5th gear run shows the torque at 433 which is not correct and I show that with a cursor at 409 which is correct. The second glitch was a bit of moisture messing up the AFR graph. It was a blast and I am glad I went. All of the runs were run with meth on. I plan on going to a dyno dynamics soon and I will run it with and without. I also logged the AFRs and boost in the car with gauges and software. We looked at the boost gauge in the car as well as tee-ing into the BOV vacuum line. My datalogging is not logging boost correctly as it recorded 9.5 lbs in contrast to both gauges (one in the dash and the one on the BOV seeing 7 maybe 7.5. Best run in 5th at 474 rwhp. I can post the screen shots of the datalogging if there is interest.

Obtaining Records from Dealer?

I'm trying to obtain all records from the two dealers(BMW of Fremont and Mountain View BMW) the vehicle was taken to for service by the original owner. Both told me that the only way I could get the records would be to come to the dealership with the car so that they could verify ownership. Wondering if any members have experienced this and found a way around it. Thanks!

I went to take my emissions inspected (Maryland) and I didn't know a service engine light means that you automatically fail. It says it was due to a P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) and I googled it and found this: P0420 Error Code: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

I just put my new SuperSprint High-Flow Cats on, but I kept the old O2 sensors on because Turner MotorSport only sent me 1 new one instead of 2.

Has anyone else had this problem, or something similar? I am hoping that I just need to put on new O2 sensors and not new cats.

If anyone has had either this problem or a similar one, please let me know..I'm freaking out!

BMW 50/50 Finance

Hi guys,

BMW are offering 50/50 finance over two years and limited mileage of 10k per annum. Thats nothing new but they also said after two years if they value the car over the 50% that's remaining after the term, then they would refund the difference. Now I know that this probably won't happen due to depreciation but I was curious to see if that's correct? I also worked out the depreciation at 350pw based on another members thread on the forum, I can't remember who it was. Hence if the cars worth 80k with my spec and I make a deduction of 350pw x 104 weeks = 36,400 hence remaining 43,600 - so BMW would refund 3,600 in this case, or I can exchange the car for something new or just give it back (which I wouldn't).

Before Ppl say this is a pointless question, I am not saying that i would sell the car after two years but I wanted to make sure I understand this product properly as the BMW guy doesn't really get it himself. Thanks!

Modded used cars......warranty?

I keep seeing cars for sale with things done beyond wheels/suspension. Pulleys, exhaust, software, etc.....

Looking at one of the other threads about aftermarket warranties and maybe BMW warranty the one contract listed aftermarket exhaust would void
warranty relative to anything they think it "could" effect. Most guys that mod there cars have immaculate well maintained cars, but it concerns me that you could get screwed on getting warranty issue's addressed. For those that have these type's of mod's what do you do?

I don't hang out with my SA at the dealership that can help me out. I only saw him/her when my car had needed service, so I would assume a lot of companies(BMW) try to look for reasons to deny claims if possible. I can't see buying a modded car with NO warranty, but is that what your doing.....rolling the dice?

The time has come. My CPO is done in a couple of months and owning an M car out of warranty is not for me. I am trading my M5 in for a more practical 3 series. I'm sure I'll be back at some point with an M car in a couple of years. I only have a few things left, but here is what I have to sell.

Eisenmann Race exhaust - $1800 plus shipping. - It's been on my car for a little over a year. In the last year I've put about 10K miles on my car so it hasn't been on the road that much. They've never seen winter since my car is garaged most of the winter. The exhaust is in fantastic shape. No dings/dents. The tips which are most important are in fantastic shape. The exhaust is coming off the car by this weekend.

RPi Scoops/Block off plates/BMC filters - $150 plus shipping - The scoops are red and are in great shape. The filters look new as well. Same as the exhaust. I've only had these parts for a little over a year and 10K miles.

OEM Black Gloss Grills and Gloss side gills - $125 plus shipping - This was something that I was very impressed with when I installed these. The front grills are an OEM BMW part. The gloss grills look so much better than the matte ones you find on ebay and they are much better quality. There are no broken tabs when I uninstalled them. These are very high quality. They are in perfect like new shape. The side gills are also glossy and in great shape. I found them on a vendor site at the same time I purchased the grills. Same as everything else. They've been on the car for about 10K miles

LCI euro spec tails with Bruce Miranda V6.1 cables - $700 plus shipping - The tails are in like new condition. As everything else they have been on the car for about 10K miles. There isn't a scratch anywhere. They are the euro spec with the AMBER turn signal LEDs. It looks so much better than the RED LED US turn signals. They also include the 6.1 cables that enable the fog lights to be brake lights so you do not lose the LED bars when braking. There is a group buy that would cost you $280 just for these cables. It looks fantastic. This is by far the best set up for LCI tails.

I don't have any pics yet, but I guarantee that everything I am selling is exactly as described. I've sold many parts on here, Xoutpost, and e60.net. You will have no issues with buying anything from me.

All items are already off the car except for the exhaust which will be off the car in the next 2 days. I will post pics at some point this evening.

help with a part number

After going through every parts diagram on realoem, I cannot find the drawing for the black plastic cover that protects the fuel injection wiring. It snaps onto an aluminum tray that holds each of the electric plugs. It's about the dimensions of the fuel rail itself and sits between the fuel rail and valve cover. I can't find it in the engine electrical diagrams, nor fuel prep, nor engine. I even checked s14 diagrams for a hint but no love.

Does someone mind having a look at theirs and giving me the part number? Thanks in advance

BMW Individual options and advice

I am having trouble getting my preferred dealer to put my ED order in the way I want. Maybe I'm being too complicated. Going with the Singapore Grey exterior.

Ordering questions:

1. I want to go with the BMW Gloss Black 20" wheels (like you see on the Performance Edition cars). Does anybody know the code (and/or cost/availability) for these?
2. I'd love to get deviated/contrast/saddle stitching. I'm thinking the SilkGrey or Platinum with black stitching and piping. Is this offered, and what is the code to get it done? It looks like on some models the saddle stitch is Z1XX.
3. Any word on whether we can do Carbon Fiber (or Carbon Leather) trim? If it is offered, what might be the code? I think it is a travesty that it doesn't appear to be offered fo the F10. The piano black is just to smudge-sensitive, and I'm kind of aluminum'ed out.
4. From everything I read, it looks pretty obvious that the dashboard with the Individual Extended is not leather. However, if you look closely at the Visualizer, the dashboard is leather on the Individuals! I'm guessing the visualizer is wrong, but...

Advice:
1. Do you think black contrast stitching would look good on the SilverStone II interior? I worry that the grey of the silverstone is too dark.
2. I don't prefer the look of a black interior. Any thoughts on how much lighter-than-black the Graphite interior is (I can't find good pics).
3. It bums me out that the Individual leathers don't have a leather dash or door uppers. Am I going to regret/notice this in the long term (yes, I know, only I can answer this question...)
4. Badge delete: cheesy or stealth?

I've just noticed that the description of the performance has recently changed slightly.
It now mention 0-60mph "routinely clocked" at 4.2 seconds for the less restricted European version.
I like this but surely a bit ambitious?
Drivetrain wouldn't last for too many attempts either, I imagine!
What is less restricted about the European version?
I thought the main difference was two piece, lighter, brake discs?
I wonder what prompted them to rewrite this part?

Mulling over trading 07 M5 for a 2010 X5M

I'm hoping someone on the board can help me with my decision. I've been mulling over whether I should get rid of MY07 for a 2010 X5M (Silverstone Silver). I test drove it yesterday and it was awesome. I'm not a crazy big fan of SUV but this is unlike any SUV I've ever driven. My wife is currently driving an 08 X5, which I do like to drive alot as well. I've spotted a very nice X5M which I'm seriously considering. But I just don't want to make the same mistake I made years back when I got rid of my 6spd Acura Legend for an Acura MDX. I missed the 6spd so much after a year that I had to look for another one and got rid of the MDX. I wanted to see if anyone here have made the switch and what they thought about the X5M. Thanks.

E60 M5 Lightweight Flywheel - Does anyone make one? Can you even fit one with SMG?

I'd really like to use a lightweight flywheel in my V10 E46M3 as it completely transforms NA engines. My car is manual, but uses all stock S85 V10 Clutch and Flywheel from an SMG model.
I can't seem to find any reference of a company that does a lightweight flywheel for the V10. Is that because you can't use one with SMG as the software can't compensate for the lack of weight? Or is it just because no one would be willing to put up with addtional noise that comes from getting rid of the dual mass in a car that's as much about luxury as speed?

I've just picked up another complete standard clutch and flywheel, and I can look into having a flywheel designed and produced. The problem is it's going to be incredibly expensive as a one off, so I wondered if there would ever be any interest for a lightweight flywheel for the E60 M5?

Hi, I have e39 M5 in lovely condition, full history, done 149,000 miles, runs great, no funny noises, knocks or bangs from the engine. I am getting paranoid about this rod bearing issue! Have i got a time bomb waiting to get me? I don't drive the car hard or over rev it. Does anyone know of many M5's going to big mileages without new rod bearing being fitted? Thanks

I tried to reinstate my old for sale thread, but no one seemed to be willing to scroll to the bottom to see the new and significant modifications to the car. With that in mind, this is an updated thread with up to date pictures:

I purchased this car from Momentum BMW in Houston Texas, but have recently felt the urge to make the move to either a two-door vehicle. The car has always been serviced at the dealer, is an original Tx car, and is in absolutely stunning condition. I spent quite a bit of time searching for the perfect M5 with this particular color combination and list of options, and it pains me to potentially see the car go. The car is loaded will all available options with the exception of soft close doors (an option I specifically avoided as they are incredibly expensive to fix when they fail), the HD radio, and I chose to find a car with the "sport" (with active side bolsters) as opposed to the "comfort" seats. The car currently has 59,XXX miles on it and has never been involved in any accidents or had any paintwork performed. The only real flaws on the car are a dent about the size of a dime with a small rock chip in the middle located on the hood above the driver's side kidney grill, and a repaired spot about the size of a nickle on the rear bumper. The spot on the hood is the result of small pebble popping up off the road while driving on Hwy 290 outside of Austin. The spot on the rear bumper has been there since I purchased the car and was actually touched up by Momentum BMW (not repainted, but touched up with touch up paint). I actually didn't even notice the blemish until about a week after I purchased the vehicle. The car is completely stock with the exception of the modifications listed below. A 60k mile service was just completed on the car including new spark plugs, transmission fluid, differential fluid, cabin filters, and cleaning the AFE air filters. There are no liens on the vehicle and I have the title in hand. For additional pictures or information please give me a call at (830) 370-8509.

-Front and Rear Stoptech BBK (Red/380mm) (The previous owner of the BBK had the calipers refinished with Brembo logos. The BBK, however, is definitely a Stoptech not Brembo kit.)
-Corsa cat back exhaust
-Dinan Monoball Control Arm Bushings
-Tsw Nurburgring Matte/Gunmetal wheels: Rear- 19x10.5 ET27 & Front- 19X9 ET20 (Effective ET = 8 After Spacers)
-Michelin PS2 305/30/19 Rear and Michelin PS2 275/35/19 Front tires
-Vorshlag 12mm Front Spacers
-Vorshlag Black 90mm Long Competition Wheel Studs M12-1.5
-New OEM M5 floor and trunk mats

Been digging around and can't seen to find anyting on this error. I have Autoenginuity and pulled this code but not sure if I can or need to do anything about it. Seems to be related to the in dash display/computer/radio/NAV system but I am not sure. I have attempted to clear it with the AE tool but that fails. Anybody have any information on this? Just got the car of my dreams a couple weeks ago so going through it with a fine tooth comb so I know what has been neglected and what I need to service.

Ok im on at least time number 12 here. How many times has your convertible broken to where it says it is not locked. I have had mine in the shop for repairs on this very problem five times. I posted my quick fix before but it did not work this time and i cannot get the error to go away. What do I have to tell these people to get the problem fixed permanently.

Im thinking of doing some spacers next. I have 20" forgestars

20x9 et.18 up front 255/35/20 tires. Had to use 5mm spacers for front to fit. Rears are 20x10.5 et.25 with 285/30/20's. Car has eibach's as well. I'd like them to stick out nicely but dont want to do any other mods( no bolt changing) other than just bolt on spacers. Maybe like 10mm up front and 15mm in the rear or can I maybe go 20mm in the rear?

I have to daily the M5 and would much rather have another M5 owner enjoy the exhaust more than I can. I also feel that there is too much money tied up in this exhaust setup and I could use the money to recoup the purchase price of my M5.

Hi, this is my first post on this forum. So I got into a little accident and I hit my rear right wheel on a curb and the mechanic said I cracked the subframe and need to replace the entire suspension on that wheel (plus the rim). I was wondering what costs would go into that because I am trying to not use any insurance money if I can since curbs seem to be always "at fault" accidents. How hard would it be to DIY this? Also how would a used subframe from another M5 work out? Any help is great. Also if you could point me to any other threads that would be wonderful (I already looked but google didn't pull up anything I wanted).

I can't say enough good things about Evolve and their team!! I just had the tune done and I am completely shocked to be honest. I didn't think a tune could do much on this V10, but WOW was I wrong!!! It literally pulls the front end up now and I can definitely feel it's lighter under full acceleration now on the front end where it wasn't like that before.

Their customer service is top notch also! I got the cables in the mail at 10pm from FedEx, immediately went to the car, downloaded what was necessary to the computer, then sent the file to them. By morning I had my new tune waiting on me and installed it asap!! There isn't much more pain than waiting days for a new "toy" that you got and can't play with it haha. But with how fast they were there was not even time to think about that.

I had a dyno done on the car (not same day) but same dyno, same conditions etc and I picked up 36 WHP from pre-tune!!!!!

Anyway, if anyone is thinking about a tune, I would highly recommend Evolve. I called other tuning companies and no one treated me as well as they did.

About 15 months since last oil change and est. of 4500 miles (a little overdue) I purchased the car from a former forum member and it's my first oil change since then. I don't abuse the car but I do red line it often in 1st and 2nd with smooth shifts in between (I don't drop the clutch or do burnouts - tires are too expensive). Mostly I just love the sound of the muffler delete above 4k. Have had to add maybe half a quart to a quart of oil in the past year. Any comments outside of those stated are appreciated. I replaced the oil with TWS this time. I realize there are other oil threads, but I mainly saw ones for 10w60 or 5w30 and figured since this may be a little less common, I would post it in it's own thread.

Going in a different direction with the car so I'm pulling the widescreen and DVD navigation unit. Both are in excellent condition.
The widescreen has no bad pixels and also comes with OEM knobs as well as the ones pictured.
The MK4 navigation unit had been upgraded with the latest firmware/software for improved mapping graphics as well as to enable 3D view or perspective view. It also comes with an original 2008 DVD disk and a 2011 DVD copy if i can find it.

I'm looking for $1,000 for the whole setup. Let me know if you have any questions.

This car has been a curse lately. I just got it back a few days ago after a Firestone place broke my rear diff. Upon picking it up at the BMW Dealer I took her home for a bath and the wife and I noticed that my pass side Magnaflow single can tip was smashed in at the top. It's not a full exhaust, just the mufflers welded on. I purchased the car like that. I called the GM of the dealer and he was very nice as I told him that my car was damaged. So, I went today to talk with him and he asked what I thought was fair? Honestly, I'm not sure? He suggested $500.00 worth of free service. What I want to say is my 600.00 that I spent in labor for getting the rear diff replaced plus a new exhaust but I also don't want to sack anybody. All I have ever wanted was my car to be returned to me in the same manner with which it was given. Any input would be appreciated.

i was wondering if anyone has tried this? - it gives direct access to all the apps on your iphone as well as the usual-music etc. and has bluetooth as well - it's priced at a shade under 300 pounds which looks a steal given that comparative double DIN products with similar functionality tend to be in excess of 700 pounds.
i've got tom tom sat nav on my i phone so this could be a great way of updating my car's head unit.

Good afternoon (evening to some) gentlemen,

I posted the E39 M5 production thread a few weeks back which was quite helpful for some owners. Now it's me who need your help with a technical question!

The factory satellite navigation on our 2001 MY (9:16) has completely stopped working. Well, it's not even possible to choose navigation on the screen anymore. It's completely gone! The screen itself is fine, the OBC and the rest works as it should. I did not get any proper explanation from the local BMW garage so thought I would try asking here. I realize something is broken but what could it be? I have very limited experience on SatNavs so any suggestion would be appreciated. Could photograph the screen for you if necessary.

Carbon Fiber Trunk Lid Issues

Hi guys,
I just installed a Carbon Fiber trunk and hood on the beast and have an issue. The original trunk lid was at least 3 to 4 times heavier than the carbon fiber one. so the springs that used to pull a heavy trunk lid now shoot the lighter CF trunk lid up like crazy. And you have to use muscle to pull it down. I took one of the springs out to see if that fixes the problem but the other spring is so strong that it actually changes the shape of the trunk lid and makes it uneven and wont align. Went to BMW to see if I can use springs from 3 series. They couldn't help me..
Anybody knows what I can do to fix the problem? I know I have to use lighter springs but where can I find those?

No power to fuel pump

Hi guys,

I have a 1991 Euro M5 that is giving me some fuel pump issues. The car is new to me and over the winter I had done some freshening up... vacuum lines, coil, cap, rotor, plugs, new battery and so on. Car ran fine when I parked it in the fall, but now when I go to crank it, the pump is not pumping any fuel. I jumped the relay and tested the plug that goes to the FP, and there's no power. I tried doing the same thing on my 525i, and it works fine.

One concern I have is that the car has an aftermarket alarm. I'm wondering that when I changed the battery, it may have affected the alarm's functions. Is it possible that even when jumping the relay, the alarm could be affecting the fuel pump?

Additional info... I have the 5 prong fuel pump relay. Swapped in the orange 4 prong from my 525i and no difference. Fuel pump is new. Fuse is good.

I have a question RE; satellite radio hookups. I have 03/2000 E39 M5 with MKII Navi Drive and 16:9 Screen. (The screen is not from my M5. I had 4:3 and changed to 16:9 that was removed from 2003 E39).

I have been meaning to hook up Satellite Radio and I found "BMW ZGW-01 MID control unit LEAR SATNAV CD RADIO 9247398 NAVIGATION/ MODULE / ZGW-01MID * 9247398 / 104621 * 535218 803 0375529 01"

Does anyone knows if this is what I need?

E39 - starting problem - help!

Hi all,

Yesterday morning I had a problem starting the E39 which was stationary over the weekend other than moving it forwards about 3 yards to make parking space for another car.
Now I am not familiar with the technical language used, so here goes;

Upon turning the key, instead of the car making the "e, e, e, e" sound, it was more like free "eeeeeee" sound. <<

Someone in another forum suggested that it sounds like the starter, it may not be engaging with the flywheel and the sound heard is the starter motor spinning.

Please help me diag. the problem. Really need to be driving into work / school runs. this week is going to cause me a lot of pain and that rain is not helping either!

I had a slow puncture recently and was on my way to have it repaired. I had just passed through a width restrictor (on Albert Bridge) and I gave the right pedal a little prod, as always after slowing for these things. Because the rear tyre was a little soft, the car slewed sideways and **BANG** on the kerb....

So I've had the wheel repaired and balanced and all seems fine, all the way to over 160mph...... apart from a very irritating wobble at around 50mph. It comes through the steering wheel, but somehow seems to be coming through the seat as well, and feels slightly more violent than a traditional wheel imbalance. I've had the wheels rebalanced twice just to be sure, but to no avail.

I used to have a wobble at this speed on a few occasions, such as when it was very cold, or under certain light braking, but it would always go away. I put this down to worn thrust arm bushes.

I'm wondering if this heavy clonk to my RHS front wheel has damaged the thrust arm or other component of the suspension. I'm assuming it's a bush issue, rather than bent metal, due to the fact it tracks pefectly straight, is fully aligned and that it vibrates. Maybe this was the final nail in the coffin for my bushes?

I'd love to hear your thoughts, and also, what the cheapest place to buy new bushes is!

STS-V Interlagos Blue / White Progress Thread!

Wanted to take some "Before" pictures before I got started on this beast. So far mods are exhaust, lowered on H&R springs, and Vossen wheels.

On order are some Vossen VVS-CV3 wheels, intake filters, scoops, block off plate, pulley, and possible headers. Then RDP is tuning the car.

Going to carbon paint the exhaust tips, side grilles, front grille, lower front grille, and possibly the wheels (they are machined face with black accents now.) Got carbon fiber emblems & headlight reflector blackouts.

Tint is set up for next week, also tinting the tail lights & reflectors.

Removing centre armrest handle

PART 10 - Centre Armrest Handle Link

I have purchased a replacement centre console armrest handle, as shown in link above, part 10, as mine has some slight imperfections on it. Do you know how to remove the old one? By the looks of the new handle it doesnt appear to be screwed on, just clipped, although I dont want to go and break something by forcing it off!

Sadly :crying: it's time to part with my Alpina B10 Bi Turbo, Avantegarde has been kind enough to prepare and
sell her on my behalf as I'm overseas.

Well it does 'exactly what it says on the tin' as they say. I have been the owner of this fantastic car for the
past 8 years, have spared no expense in maintaining her and know of no faults whatsoever on the car, it's been
driven whenever I'm home which is by-monthly.

Over my ownership, Engine was re-honed, new piston rings, Head Gasket, Turbo's overhauled,
New Fuel Tank, Water Pump, Ecu, Shocks, Discs front and rear, New Radiator, Turbo CW Pump, all Alpina and stock
parts. The car also benefits from Powerflex bushing all round, Goodridge brake hoses and Yellow Stuff Pads.
New Goodyear Eagle F1's all round, Handbuilt SS Exhaust from Torqueflow and much more, all documented by myself and then
some from the previous owners right back to the original Alpina Delivery note.

So if any of you guy's know of anyone who wants to acquire a good, well maintained BiTurbo
you won't be disappointed.

like title says, i just picked up a m5 and i noticed a few things.

so i have a confirmed Stage 4 software from DINAN
also DINAN rear sway bay i believe (pic is below)
the Intake system is DINAN plus a carbon fiber manifold, but not sure who made it.
Will be doing the Oil change soon, i was under the car and noticed that my oil drain screw seems to have a really slow leak.

The diff appears to have a slow leak also. not sure yet though. after i get the underneath of the car degreased and steam cleaned i will be able to better determine foreign liquids.

The headers are still a mystery to me, though i have seen some similar ones. but none of them are connected at the engine exhaust port, (pic is below, maybe someone more informed can hook me up with a quick best guess). i will becomes very informed very soon the search button is my friend, i make continue to edit and redo my one thread as to not create tons of threads about my car one car.e

my normal driving temp is 210 (i don't drive hard, i am usually in 6th gear the majority of the time to save gas on highway. (hopefully oil change will affect this, but the bmw tech said it was normal temperature, pic is below of what im talking about.)

Got 32 pages of Service History from BMW of Austin. The previous owner was very detailed. if he ever find my thread i would like to thank him for taking such well care of the car, and doing such tasteful mods

SO my "crazy" noise was nothing more than the fan in front of the radiator, it and the engine fan both work, i let engine sit head first in my garage running with A/C on max to see if the temperature would rise above the 210 mark everything was A.O.K. anyway let me know what you think.

Sneak Peek From Sunday's Photoshoot

Hey guys,

Just wanted to leak some pictures from a photoshoot on Sunday. It was a bit of a collaboration between myself and my friend Tim who is a fantastic and very talented photographer. When we were cooking up ideas for the photoshoot we were trying to put together something that most of us would appreciate so we thought "Why not do a shoot that involved cars, girls and guns?! How could you go wrong with that combination?"

Either way this was my first experience with an actual legit photoshoot, not just one where I take picture of my own car haha. Let me tell you that I was exhausted at the end of the day. We started shooting at 2pm and didn't end till way past 9pm! Needless to say it was an awesome experience and I'm looking forward to working with Tim more closely on helping him break into automotive photography!

Well I hate to say this.... I was going to put this into an e36 but as a college student barely making rent, the reality of having a v8 bmw with gas prices is hitting me so I'm seeing what kind of interest there is in a full s62 longblock. I know someone out there wants this for some epic project and I'd love to see this swapped into something =P

This one in particular came out of a 2001 m5 with approx 120k on it. I have not looked at the internals however I can say that(from the oil) the motor appears to be very well taken care of(no "grit" in the oil at all)

The seller said that it was removed from a customer's car (still ran when removed) with "a slight bottom end tap"- from research, it seems that the s62's are prone to bearing bottom end rod bearing wear. I have not opened it up to inspect anything as of yet however I believe it just needs new bearings which don't cost all too much(VAC ceramic coated ones are only $300 for the set).

Engine does not come with the coil packs, alternator, starter etc. however it is otherwise complete. What you see in the pictures is what you will get.

Looking to get 5.5k shipped(plus PP fees) for this. I am a reasonable seller and I AM open to offers and partial trades

The only s62 I've seen for sale recently sold on ebay for 6.4k shipped last week(had 80k on it) and it seems like that is a pretty standard price(another one listed on ebay for 6.4k)

Also- I MIGHT consider parting this out in the future but only if I had buyers for the majority of parts

Engine check light pop up and disappeared

Was drive my car for a long journey (500km) yesterday morning, about 80km from my house the engine check light pop up and the light was there until i reached my destination. When the light pop up, i dint feel anything wrong with the car.

When i reached my destination i straight away parked it and let the car for a rest about 3 hours and i went to check again the engine check light is gone!! I thought once the check light came out it will never disappear until we send to fix it or delete the fault code. But mine one disappear by itself, until now the car still work fine.

Did anyone facing this before?

Well after weeks of waiting and wondering where my kit was, then weeks of sitting around looking at the kit while I had no extra time in my life, the ESS VT1 kit is installed. I won't say it went flawlessly, but I will say I can't wait for the computer learn/break-in period to be over.
The bad first because it is somewhat inconsequential:
-kit is not quite a bolt-on, be prepared to redrill bolt holes that don't line up and grind out an area for a bolt head that doesn't fit here and there.
-either my car came with AC lines reversed, or part of the install not mentioned in the instructions but shown in the instruction photos involves discharging the AC and switching lines at the condenser so they don't hit the belt/pulley. If you don't swap the lines, you just have to bend the lines and they rub on each other, which I don't think is good long-term. I bent mine for now, but will swap them later when I have time and access to an AC machine.
-no bolt torque values in the instructions, you need BMW TIS or something to look those values up since for example Vanos head bolts are used on the supercharger bracket. Would be nice to have bolt torque values in the directions, as well as arrows pointing to the bolt being referred to.

Obviously, ESS is putting most of these on in-house so my minor complaints don't apply since they know exactly what they are doing each time.

The good and neutral:
-smooth tune, even better than the ESS tune I had before. How could BMW get driveability so wrong? I never knew how crappy the stock tune was until now.
-car is a lot quieter, what I always thought was exhaust noise was apparently almost 25% intake noise.
-superchager is very quiet and not noisy like what you might think. Very minor whine and blowoff.
-pulls like nothing I have ever been in once the RPMs start to go up. Although I am still breaking it in and have to back off, it is obviously hot to tear *** and go. Can spin the tires hammering it in second gear.....going downhill. You know how it feels being the passenger in a fast car? Driving this is almost like that.

So long story short, breaking it in then going to the dyno where I already have a baseline from about this time of year. Then, water injection going on for cooling/safety only(not looking to use meth and crank the boost, just don't want timing being pulled when it's hot).
Then, when I get bored, we go down on pulley size and and intercoolers!
