Detailing Event + BBQ - Saturday 20th June

Hi All,

A lot of times I see posted threads with questions on how to wash your car, which wheel cleaner, how to treat my leather, how to clay, how to polish or which wax to use. My hobby and obsession being Detailing, this has given me the idea of organizing a little introduction course into Detailing, with a raffle that gives the opportunity of having your car detailed and where all the proceedings from that event are given to charity. It’s a feel good event, an opportunity to learn how to take care of our cars and everybody wins with it!

I brought this idea together with Frits a few months ago and he was enthusiastic about it. As he has a clean and big garage where he can receive a lot of us, the space is perfect. We went on since then to think on how to make this a special day for the M Community in the Benelux (and around!).

Details of the Event
The day will consist of 4 main parts.

1.Raffle
At the arrival of each participant, a ticket will be bought with a number on it. This will allow us to raffle the following:

1st Prize
Having your car washed, clayed, glazed and waxed with bespoke products on the day of the event.

2nd Prize
A washing kit consisting of the following products
1x Dodo Juice Born to be Mild Shampoo
1x Lambswool Washing Mitt
1x Aquatouch Drying Microfibre Towel

2. Introduction to Detailing
The winner of Raffle event will have his car detailed and all members will learn hands on how to:
. Wash -The principle of the correct washing procedure, always using the two bucket system.
. Claying - The removal of contaminants that are stuck on the clear coat, which enhances the smoothness and finish of the paint.
. Glaze/Pre-Wax – Cleansing the paint and enhancing the gloss and depth of the shine
. Waxing - the cherry on the top of a cleaned car, providing protection and that wet deep look.

3. BBQ
Food and Drinks for everyone, courtesy of Frits!
Also, raffle for the second prize.

4. Introduction to Polishing
Hands on Experience with a Dual Action polisher (i.e. Porter Cable).
. What is the difference between Compound, Polish and Final Finish Polish.
. What pads to use.
. How to remove swirls and RDS (Random Deep Scratches).
. How to reach the perfect crystal finish

Who is organizing:
Tiago and Frits

Where:
Frits’s Shop – Performance Shop Geel
Winkelom, 83 A3
2440 Geel
BELGIUM

Date:
Saturday, 20th of June - 10h30m

How much ticket/raffle:
20 Euros
100% of the value is donated to the International Red Cross. If you want to donate more to the Red Cross, you are welcome to do so!
This price includes the Tuition + BBQ.

Confirmation of presence:
Please confirm your presence, so we can calculate properly the amount of food and drinks for the BBQ!

What is Detailing:
Striving for perfection is a long and demanding path.

Detailing a car is to clean it, enhance it and protect it. This applies either to the interior, engine bay and the exterior, leaving no stone unturned. But the most time consuming and demanding task is to polish the paint, but is also the one that is the most satisfying to see complete.

Swirls act as a diffuser for the light, not allowing for its correct reflection. Removing these imperfections will enable the paint to reflect the light correctly like a mirror, while enhancing the gloss and shine.

I could go on and on about all the topics of Detailing, like claying, wax or sealant, leather care, polishing, etc, but I believe its wise to present and explain all the concepts of Detailing on the Tuition day. Nonetheless, here are some pictures below of what can be achieved and what detailing is all about!

Hope to see you all there!

Tiago
