Ring advice.

Hey all,

A few friends and I would like to pop over to visit the ring and possibly the BMW museum most likely early next year.
We were thinking of flying over and hiring a car and perhaps doing a driving course at the ring.
My questions are,
Firstly is this possible ?
What would be the best time to do so ?
Any advice on what course's are best ?

Generally any comments welcome has none of us have ever been and its high time we rectified that

Ring training: sportscar driver training on international racing circuits

Try to get to know the track a bit in advance, playstation, videos on youtube, etc etc...

And don't try to be too fast in the beginning.

Wish somebody had told me that before my first visit:

I personally would take your own car on the EuroTunnel, drive there, follow frits advice and hire a car and get some training and then later on have a blast in your own car.

I did it wrong (as you can see above) and went straight out in my own car with no training and went off track twice in the same place. I'd never seen a map of the track, never really played it much on any consoles and had only had the car just over a month. The trip was unplanned, door-to-door was 49 hours and fun though it was, I think I'll be slightly more organised about it next time but still definitely do it in my own car.

The track isn't open to the public everyday, check the dates it's open and also read up as much as possible about it here:
Ben Lovejoy's Nurburgring Nordschleife website
It's an excellent site with great write-ups, guides and photos.
