One question Fritz. Why remove all the interior. Really marginal weight savings I think.
You will be suprised, it all adds up.
Carpets weigh an absolute ton as they are so thick and foam backed, I reckon as a guess between 20kg-30kg's can be saved by ditching the carpets.
My seats were 27kg each (which were non vaders, I believe vaders weigh more), replacement drivers seat 6.8kg.
All that black stick on sound deadening you can see in Fritz's photos can be got rid of too, it's suprising what that weighs especially as there's loads of it. I've just started mine, the sound deadening alone from the drivers side weighs 3.5kg, whole car I reckon will be around 10kg-12kg.
So that's roughly 70kg's without much effort. I need to get rid of the sun roof too, a lot of weight high up. Did you weigh yours Frits?

The seats are a big factor and so the carpets, but... the door covers weigh almost nothing, and so does the centerconsole. I understand the carpets but then you will have to add some weight back to get the floor to the right height again so that the feet can reach the pedals.

Quite right, some stuff is not worth the hassle especially if you have to replace it with something else. I couldn't understand the mentality of the previous owner of my old Integrale who replaced cloth covered hardboard inserts on the door cards with aluminium chequerplate? Must have made it twice as heavy.
Anyway back to the M3.
I'm leaving the gear surround so I don't have to bother relocating the switches (I'm not ditching the elec windows/mirrors). All of the dash is staying. The centre console has gone though, mine had the armrest which is a pain and as it was also in Buffalo hide it's worth a few Ģ so helps pay for the mods (same with the walnut trim). The centre console doesn't weight too much by itself but with the armrest it does, probably 2kg.
The door cards are staying, at least for the coming season. I have some carbon that may replace them but too much hassle at the moment.
As for evening up the floor on the drivers side, the weight of a bit of 2mm ally treadplate is not exactly heavy especially if you don't go full width, probably only 600g-700g.
Here's mine after last weekend. Sound deadening removed, floor sprayed up and treadplate cut and fitted...still more to do (dash trim and cage door bars removed for ease of access):
I will be putting some of the stuff back in, but to be able to spray the interior, most of the stuff has to go out now.
The carpet is heavy indeed. And the black stuff that is glued to the floor will look just ugly when sprayed in white. I have no idea of the weight of the black stuff, but it will just look better when removed.
The car has to look good both inside and outside, as the car will get an advertising purpose for my shop. And I just like to do things right...
The black stuff is just sound deadening sheets. It's fitted to large panel areas to reduce the "drumming" of the panels when on the road. You will find large pads of it on the inside of the door skins too, that's if want to go that far to remove it, I won't bother on mine. To remove it you just need a hot air gun and a scraper, just warm it up enough for the glue underneath to go tacky and then it should almost lift off in a whole sheet. The remaining residue can be cleaned off with cellulose thinners, don't try painting over it as some paints can react with it (it's basically like tar).
