Confirmed - Bluetooth phone for MY03

Hi all!! I am a (just) ex 1999 E39 M5 owner now waiting for a Sep 02 E36 M3 build here in Australia. After 130,000km I thought it was time to change to a newer "Mmmmmm"

Anyway, I have been harassing my dealer for information on what is going in the new MY03 cars, and they just posted me this beauty (at least for Australia and I suspect Europe)...

Bluetooth technology mobile phones for BMW
The continual pursuit of leadership in automotive technology also means integrating other areas of technology such as progressions in the telecommunications industry and we are very pleased to announce the introduction of new Bluetooth mobile phone technology into the BMW range.
BMW is the first car manufacturer to offer the universal mobile phone preparation with Bluetooth interface. This mobile phone package will be available as an option for the 3 Series, 5 Series and X5 and standard on the 540i and M5.
The universal mobile phone preparation means theoretically that any Bluetooth compatible mobile phone can be interfaced straight into the car’s on-board electronics. The mobile phone can be
operated via the multifunction steering wheel and the in-car displays – this even applies to fully featured hands free phoning.
All the important data such as the contents of the phone book, the “Top 8” list and the last numbers dialled are synchronized with the on-board system. Up to four telephones can be
        networked into the system.
        Benefits:
        • High degree of compatibility; virtually all current and future Bluetooth mobile phones from the mainstream manufacturers can be used.
        • All user functions and hands free phoning are supported, even when the mobile phone is not in the holder.
        • The mobile phone can be operated easily by via the multifunction steering wheel or voice recognition system (optional) and the in-car displays.
        • The snap-in adapters are interchangeable, ensuring compatibility for recharging and for connection to the outside aerial.
        • High data transfer rate phone megabit per second.
        • Low susceptibility to interference.
BMW recommends the use of an outside aerial for all calls, as otherwise transmissions might not be of the highest quality and radio reception might also be impaired. It is for this reason that we are offering a complete Bluetooth phone package with all the necessary components (including the handset) to ensure the most effective and safe operation.

        Details
When the mobile phone is brought into the reception footprint of the chip in the car (approximately a 10 metre range) it is automatically registered with the system when the ignition key is in position 1 – just as if a connection had been established with a cable. A four character code has to be entered for initial registration only. As soon as the Bluetooth connection has been established between the mobile phone and the car, the following functions are enabled:
        • Mobile phone operation by means of the multifunction steering wheel and in-car displays.
        • Hands free phoning.
        • Connectivity for up to four mobile phones including phone book display. Top 8 list and last numbers dialled.
        • Operation by means of the voice input system (optional).
        • Recharging and link to the outside aerial by means of the phone-specific snap-in adapter. The Bluetooth phone package (option 644) replaces the current Motorola V50 mobile phone package (option 632) and comprises the following content:
        • Complete preparation for the Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone
        • Snap-in adapter in centre console, incl. hands free facility, connector for charging
        • Nokia 6310 mobile phone handset (phone may change subject to new models)
