It is one SWEET car. It's good to see BMW M going back to their roots and developing a full-bore race/street car. The nostalgic Inca Orange paint is another nice touch. I should be interesting to see if they allow the car to be offered to the U.S market, since almost all special edition M cars have been reserved for the European market only.
I don't see this car coming to the states especially with those seats. They have no Thorax side airbag protection. Might be a modified 135i Motorsport seat, but with BMW, if this car comes here at all, it will be a miracle.
I do see BMW releasing a "comp" package with the bar, suspension, wheels, airdam and wing. I think it will be like the e36 M3 Clubsport car. Like "if you install these parts you void your warranty"

...and yet we get nothing for the top of the line but a one off
Look, everyone, you can build your own if you want for a lot less than the factory job looks like it will cost. Strip out the interior, add adjustable suspension of the JRZ or Moton type, race seats, brakes, wheels, splitter, wing, fire suppression and roll bar. The parts should be roughly $20,000-$25,000. That leaves engine work, and I suspect that some combination of headers, intake, exhaust and software will get you the missing 36 hp. And if you do it yourself you can start with a used donor car.
