As absolutely awesome this car is, I don't see any reason to buy it other than the exclusivity, considering it's price tag.
I'm sure eventually we'll be able to get our hands on the wing/splitter (or at least knock-offs or similar ones). I don't see the suspension being all that different/better than having some properly setup KW's V3's, and I'm sure one of our sponsors can come up with a lighter set of rims as well. The brakes are more than likely just a Brembo Gran Turismo setup. Also, most of the weight savings came from gutting the car - something you can easily do to an M3 if you wanted to.
My point is, you can buy a base M3 (no point getting the all the nice stuff if you are just going to swap it all out) and put on some KW V3's, full Brembo GT kit, a nice set of lightweight wheels, get an exhaust with a Dinan stroker put in, and top it off by putting a wing and splitter on and gutting the interior and make out FAR FAR cheaper than the 170K price tag and have more power. They rumor this 4.4L M V8 to have 450hp while the Dinan Stroker V8 puts out (well) over 500hp. Heck, you'd probably have enough money left over to throw a G-Power Stage 1 kit on top of the Dinan Stroker motor...
(Not to mention you can sell all the stock parts you replaced and make a good portion of your money back.)
The only thing I'd remotely feel I missed out on was if the motor revs to 9K RPM (I'm basing this off of the fact that the 25th anniversary 5.5L M V10 revved to 9K, and this motor seems to be the V8 variant of it).

So basically we are looking at $150k US....(optimistic currency exchange...lol)....and if we run into a GT3RS we will get our testicles handed to us...correct?....While I am loving the fact that BMW is actually & really going to offer this car...seems like too little too late.
It is still a heavy car when compared to its competition....but I do like it!....

“It was amazing in the GTS, just amazing. It was great, especially under braking with the light weight that it has,” said Rossi after completing a test-drive around the Ricardo Tormo circuit.
Mesmerized by the sheer potential of the M3 GTS, Rossi insisted on swapping his BMW M Award prize for the latest addition in the BMW M range and as the Bavarian manufacturer agreed to his demand, he will indeed be one of the very first owners of this brand new model.
