BMW M3 vs. AMG C32, good Roundel article!

http://www.bmwcca.org/Roundel/2001/1...ureStory.shtml

Also questioning why M3 Sedan isn't offered. It outsould the Coupe in 1997 and 1998 in the USA.

Summary:

The M3 is still king of the high-performance sports coupe segment, but that’s mainly due to its manual transmission and an engine that is one of the best available today—at any price. As a sports car, it is more single-minded in its focus than the C32. You can drive the M3 every day and on any kind of road, but you are constantly thinking of twistier and faster routes to try out with this car. While the C32 is very competent on the track, the M3 gives you the impression that getting to the track is its ultimate purpose. The threat from AMG however, is more real than ever, and the C32 is really nipping at the M3’s heels. More buyers will be looking at the C32 as an alternative to the M3 than any other AMG car before it, particularly those who need four doors (see sidebar). Once sequential gearboxes are available from AMG, the C32 could be an even more viable challenger to the M3 than it is today.
