CRAZY Transmission

Hello M lovers, hope your cars have many years of reliability and fun ahead! Unfortunately I am having some issues with my (2003 M3 73K 6MT) transmission and looking for some advice on what to do...

The armature inside my transmission that triggers reverse mode (backup lights, distance sensor, side mirror tilt) has broken off and is presumably floating around in the transmission. Symptoms are no reverse mode when I am backing up, and for a while when I shifted into 4th and released the clutch the gear selector popped back to neutral. I drove for a week without using 4th and the problem stopped so my theory is that armature was stuck in the gear.

I have been looking into transmission replacement. germanonly is selling a used transmission for $2500 parted out from a 2005 M3 with 34k miles, totaled with damage all around. Anyone have experience with this seller? He has sold many transmissions and has great feedback, I just don't want to waste money on labor if its not in perfect condition. Should I even get a used transmission or just live with the one I've got?

Today I got stuck in gear for the first time, bump. Shifter stuck in 3rd at 5000 rpm, couldn't shift to 4th so I slowed down, accelerated back up to speed and the shifter was free again. Later on it happened in 4th gear... I guess I have to get this used transmission...
