Hi Joe,
Those two big cavernous things under our headlamps are supposed to channel air towards the brakes and the intake....though I dont really see how.
as an aside I have tracked my M3 and the brakes held up fine at Pocono and NJMP....the tires...well they were squealing like piggies....all I did was change the fluids and pads.
Have Fun
Regards
S

There are no brake ducts on the E92 M3. The big opening on the driver's side feeds the air intake for the engine and the big opening on the pax side feeds the transmission (yes, transmission) oil cooler. The center opening feeds the (massive) engine oil cooler, the radiator and yet even more air for the engine. There are no brake ducts. Unlike the M5, there isn't even a place to put brake ducts.

Thanks guys..........what is the current consensus on pads?........I did Watkins Glen in September with stock pads but practically all sessions were in a downpour and speeds were relatively slow. I used Performance Friction pads front and rear on my e46S2 and they were great but that car was really set up for the track and ran track tires.

I am going to try Hawk HT10s on the front with SS brake lines and ATE fluid with the PS2 street tires for now..........Joe

I used Hawk as well...but used Motul Brake fluid no SS lines...more problematic are the tires....odd sizes on the 18's 245/40f and 265/40 rears...not many options.

My experience is that your rear brakes work pretty hard on the E92 M3. If you can put the same pads front and rear, that would be good. I picked up a set of Pagid RS-19 Yellows and they worked very well. I put on Stoptech SS lines and used Castrol RBF fluid to round out the package.
