Exclamation Carrera S for real? Beats modded M6 and Viper!

Can this be for real? 2009 Porsche carrera S beats modded M6 with intake and CF bonnet + CF trunk. And along came the 2008 Viper which lost too when it wanted to play with both of them. Supposedly, the viper was ahead to 200 km/h which was when the porsche emerged ahead.

Now the owner of the carrera wants a piece of my M5 Ok to start with i told him no way did he have a chance.. which was what he heard from the M6's owner. I didnt race him yet but did go for a ride behind its wheel. All i can say is that its fast and the race should be close with a slight acceleration advantage to him (i only saw 200). Hes claming to have hit 285 km/h in less than 1 mile. The last time i checked, i saw 300 at exactly the 1 mile mark.

This is crazy to even ask or consider but could this be for real? A real challange from a Carrera S?

p.s. i just checked its stats and its official stats (conservative?) is 4.5s to 60 mp/h.

p.s. 2 that M6 has already been sold! and the viper never stopped after the race.

Over and out. back to you.

Is the Carrera S a 6-speed or PDK?? Last Friday, I drove a new Carrera S with PDK tranny. YES, the "official" 4.5 sec 0-60 is WAY conservative; as is the "claimed" 385hp. Porsche is very good at "managing" expectations.

Its PDK.

Also, i said that it could be faster in acceleration cuz of its torque which our car is lacking. I could be wrong but its alot different when you feel torque. I miss it

It may be faster down low. Porsches do put the power down very well (when they're not hopping).

As long as it is bone dry with good grip, it hasn't got a chance.
That M6 must have been down on power.
Some times these mods, if not done properly can end up loosing you power and you don't even realise until you compare with another car.
The intakes, depending on what they are, can be very questionable.
Most expensive and carbon fibre is not always the best.
RPI's cheaper scoop system, puts many other expesive systems to shame.
I think you should give it a go, make sure your car is running as it should and please let us know.
I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Ok the race went down and the result is quiet suprising.

It was a dusty day, thus we went for a 20 km/h punch. I had some wheel spin and he was quick to jump 1.5 car length ahead. I hit 4th gear and i started to real him in and at 240 km/h i got him and started to move ahead quiet easily.

The second race, i used traction control and got a better launch (eventhough it was from 20 km/h again) but later i hit the m button and faced wheel spin mid through 1st gear. The Porsche pulled ahead 1 car length yet started to catch him at 200 and was 1 car length ahead (meaning he was on my rear bumper) at 260 and building on the lead.

We tried from rolling speeds and i went nowhere cuz of traction control. It just held the car alot so i lifted.

Results i didnt expect at all.

p.s. my car dynoed 468whp and have quiet some weight shaved off. And I had just under 3/4 tank full.

I say if your car is stock or mildly modded, beware. This thing is a quiet fast.

I recently drove a 911 w/ the PDk. These P cars just keep getting better. Anyhow the 0-60 time of 4.5s is bogus. Its WAY faster. I think its closer to 3.8-4secs according to some media tests. Never drove a modified m5/6 but the 911 is definately faster in the beginning, but the M car has better top end. Maybe the Pcar had some extra?

M5 is faster than carrera 4S (997 - 2007). I checked it on a highway above 200km/h - 250km/ - 280km/h. I had to brake, because carrera 4S was too slow

I think it might have had some hidden extra mods too.
I also think that it tricked you in to having slippery surface, which is our achillies heel.
You see the problem with our cars, is that they are nose heavy with roo much power at the rear.
The next M5/M6 should be more like 46-54 front to rear to aid traction off the line.

A,
This was a 2009 carrera S. I believe its 380 hp and surely performed alot faster than anyone would expect. Plus, the carrera 4 is heavier cuz its 4 wheel drive. Yet this was an animal. The owner even told me after the race that i would eat M5s and M6's for breakfast ! The shock on his face after getten beat was a kodack moment. Full of suprise!! lol

hbpetrides,
I am quiet sure its bone stock. Lol after the race he called and said he has ordeed a sports exhaust (which should give him 35whp) and wants a rematch.

kosmo,
Yeah u are right. Even though it was dusty. He was quick off the line and the only time i was next to him was when i hads traction on.
