Installed the new recaro seat today. Unfortunately one seat was damaged during transport from Recaro to England so I'll have to wait for a new one.

Getting the exhaust on next week.

Part two.

Passenger seat mat sensor (part number: 65 77 6 921 952).

I used Recaro basemount, sliders and sidemounts.

This is the original position:

Unfortunately the seat is higher than the lowest poisition of the stock seats.
Therefor I spacet out the side mounts with two-three washers on each side to
get the seats between the frame around the seat belt opening.

I kept the front position at the highest level to tilt the seat backwards
and thereby sit lower from the roof and not so upright. It helped alot but
it was still a tad higher than stock so I was still not satisfied. I wanted to
get lower, and the angle was a bit too laid back for spirited driving.

To be able to do this I had to cut out some extra material from the
side mounts and drill a new hole. I'm pretty sure this is a totally safe
modification to the brackets regarding safety.

I find it easier to innstall the basemount in the car before i put the seat in.
It hardest part is to keep the washers in place at the same time. To make
it easier I used duct tape to hold them in place. I used two washers on
each side in the back for the lowest pisition.

I'm fairly satisfied with the position, and the seat angle is good for daily driving.
For serious driving I would adjust the front down one level. (It's at the
next highest position now).

Part one is coming next week when I innstall the passenger seat.

Here are som more pictures:

Part one:

After the four bolts are screwed out disconnect the battery from minus
and let the car discharge for 10 minutes. Then disconnect the wires under
the seat.

Be careful with your back when you lift the seat out as it's quite heavy (allmost 30kg).

Don't connect the battery unntil the belt tensioner and matte sensor for
passenger airbag is back in place.

Disconnect the battery (minus):

The matte sensor is connected to a small box which you'll have to
take from the stock seat. It's attached under the seat with clips
and strips.

I'm very happy with the result:

I've driven for 90 miles (900km) for one day and find the seats very
comfy. It takes some time to get used to them but once you do
you wouldn't go back to the stock seats again.

I've been sitting in them for 350 miles (3500km) and up to 7-10 hours
straight (allmost) about four times without any problems. Well, I do miss
the head rest sometimes, but I guess I could bring a pillow for long distances

I recently went to Germany, Flensburg, to do a service Inspection II with valve adjustment.
This pictures are from the roadtrip. I won't translate the text into English but I leave the comments
in norwegian in case some of you can read my language and might be interested:

Posted at a norwegian bmw discussionboard:

Reisen startet fra Kråkerøy i Fredrikstad. Min gode venn og kartleser
Kent var entusiastisk over de nye stolene. Han syntes de var veldig
komfortable å sitte i:

Kjørte langs svenskekysten og over bruene til Danmark:

Nok et stopp på Shell, her i Tyskland:

Shell V-Power:

Hentet bilen halv fem.

Her i 260kmt.

Her slår jeg ihjel litt tid mens

Noen bilder fra Flensburg, veldig pen og koselig by:

Her i Danmark, København. Min kartleser fant veien:

I nærheten av Evje, kjørte RV42 over fjellet.
