Frequent change of temp ->Rust

Hi mil,

congrats on you M3, now let's see some pictures

One thought about winter weather and what it does to your car:
If you store your car in a garage overnight it will "thaw" - ice and snow will melt (I'm assuming your unheated garage is >0°C). This could prove to be more aggressive to your car than storing it outside(in terms of rust).

It would be nice to hear from someone who knows chemical reactions well, if it makes any difference (in terms of oxidation/rust) whether you keep your car constantly below freezing or not. Somewhere I've picked up that as long as you keep it sub-zero it won't rust as much.

What's your thought on this guys??

Ossi: Thanks. Yes we certainly have Going to take break-in service Tuesday..

lebouf: Actually my garage is a big parking hall with roof but semi-open walls so the temprature equals with outside. The benefit is that windows keep clear even after very cold nights and it does not snow on the car.

I think you're right with corrosion issue. I'm glad that I have another warm place where I can hand wash my car anytime and have been using that opportunity already four times during the two weeks I've had the car. Winter is hard time for cars but trying to keep it waxed and as clean as possible... It's so fun to drive that I just can't store it for winters..

just convinced me ...

I'm just deciding if I should exchange my current Z3 coupe for a M3 or a 330Ci, well, after looking around I feel quite confident that the M3 will be just perfect, altho a bit on the expensive side, but you only live once, right?!

well, I will probably make a final decision in a few weeks time... have fun sliding around in the snow! I certainly enjoy it

regards,

//Anders

Anders,

If money is not an object, take the M3. I've driven both and there is absolutely no comparisation between them. 330 has probably enough power for everyday use for many people. But the the experince of driving M3 - it's just not possible to describe it here.

Test drive both and I believe making the final decision will be simple.

ahhh...

will get more info on exchange value for my Z3 next week-then it is just a matter of decision...

given the current situation, the M3 feels better, looks better, handles better, and produces a bigger hole in the wallet.

Still, only live once, when a car this gr8 is within reach...

thanks for input!

Merry Christmas!!

I'm sure you'll keep up up to date what comes to your decision.

How is the delivery time in Sweden currently for M3? Even though they have increased production you have to wait something between 6 to 12 months in Finland.

Merry Christmas!

M3 delivery

well, somewhere next year, I'd say around 8-10 months, from what I understood of when I spoke to BMW.

The M3 I am after right now is already standing @ the dealer... so, the delivery time for me is more a decision ...

I'll keep u posted!

Well, that certainly does not make it easier - you could get the car right away..

Are happy you with color and options that car has? IMHO, when you are buying a car like M3 you really should get everything exactly as you want. At least I had to. On the other hand you would skip very frustrating waiting.

wait vs details...

The basics are completely right - I could have added some more stuff, but nothing major....

And you are definitely right, avoiding that wait is worth much....

Anders,

Are you getting the Carbon black M3 at BMW Solna?

Anyway a 330Ci is not that much cheaper and the even though the 330Ci is a very good car the M3 is far superior in most aspects. If you get the M3 you will not regret it.

Cheers,
/Johan
