New Member - twenty five and need a ride

Hey!

What's up guys? Hope all is well. So the funny thing is that I've been reading this board for over two years but have never posted. Did not have a BMW so I really couldn't contribute. But I've read so much its as if I've owned the beast myself and have gone through all the probs/kills that you have been through.

Sorry to digress, but here is the deal. I have $45k max to spend on a new/used ride. I am single so I can naturally afford an impractical ride. The big Q is what should I get?

After much thought I came to the conclusion:

E46 M3
E39 M5
335i '07.

I think I want something small and tossable, so I am already geared towards the smaller M3. The E39 M5 is one ride I lusted after day after day. But it's a bit too heavy.

So can you guys recommend anything else?

Oddly I often find myself combing the for sale section of this
forum looking at e39 M5s. Love those cars and the S3 Dinan package
is pretty insane.

$45k....no brainer!!!! 335i without a doubt. Keep in mind most E39's are out of warranty and free maintenance programs are done with, unless you are lucky enough to find one that was CPO'd. Anticipate spending some good cash on repairs and maintenance if it is not covered.
With a 335i your getting a new car with all the latest gizmos and won't have to worry for the next four years about a thing (other than tires), all the while getting similar performance numbers as an E46. Add a few mods and you will be faster than both of the aformentioned cars.

+1. Just had a ride on E39 M5 S3 Dinan Package, and love that more than my limp E60 M5. Unbelievable handling even though part of that has to do with the driver, but power/torque is amazing. Again, S3 will be ways off your budget.

Back to the reality, 335i got my vote.

335i's are great cars. With a little ECU upgrade and they post similar times as the E39 M5 and E46 M3. All the while you are getting a new car.

In my opinion, with M6 wheels and a front aero lip, they look really good also!

I vote 335! They are beautiful, awesome cars, you get the benefit of new, and you have plenty of time later in life for a four door. At 25, you need something a little less practical. Make sure you save a little money for this, though: http://www.vishnutuning.com/bmw_335i.htm!
