Edmunds Road Test: 2007 MB CLK63 AMG Black Series vs. 2007 BMW M6

The merits of the the CLK were discussed in this thread, but here's what Edmunds Inside Line has to say:
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...leId=121263#17

If the 2007 Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series and 2007 BMW M6 could talk trash, things would get ugly in a hurry.

Sorry to end the suspense, but it shouldn't come as a surprise that the Benz wins this contest given its $136,000 price tag — nearly a $27,000 premium over the M6. Or should it?

WOW.that CLK is really a beast. I agree with Edmunds, the CLK looks more aggressive and performs more aggressive than the M6, but a 30K difference is a big hit. i would rather get something else than a Longer C-Class...id still choose my M6 over the CLK though...i think the guys at edmund suck at driving. they got the new CLK at 4.4sec?.car and driver and motortrend have all done 3.9 and 4.1 with it.also the M6 does not do 4.7.even BMW is conservative enough to say it does 4.5.all these other magazines have given it a 4.1 and 4.3 0-60.also the Quarter miles seem about right though 12.8 is the usual time..great find wayward..but at 136K id rather get a porsche turbo..what do u guys think?

I still keep my M6 over that and a 997TT. This car has been as close to perfection as possible imho...

Damn I love this car. I believe ist priced so high because of its exclusivity. You cant just walk into a dealership and buy one, just like an M3 CSL

I must admit, I love the way the AMG looks.....what do you mean you can't just walk in and buy one? That is SO un-American.

Limited production. Most allocations, if not all have already been filled

I guess they decided to show the world that they could build an all around capable car. It was the answer to all the "AMG cant build a NA car, wait until the twisties, etc etc" Not sure about the r comps but it wouldnt surprise me
