Post Fuel smell !!!

My M6 was at the dealer last week for changing the horn and the fuel pump and filters cuz we have dirty fuel in this country (20.000KM). when i got my car back i noticed a heavy fuel smell inside the cabin, i called up the dealer and asked em abt that smell , he said that the fuel pump and filters can only be changed from inside the cabin (they remove the back seat and do the job) and this smell was due to this, n he claimed that the smell well disappear within 2 days...........now it's been more than a week n i still smell it big time DAMN is this normal

ur feedbacks r highly appreciated

cheers

Fuel pump/filters need to changed for everyone at some point (perhaps Service #2?). I find it hard to believe that everyone will therefore have to endure similar discomfort in the name of maintenance.

In other words, the fuel smell you describe does not sound normal or reasonable. Personally, I would complain loudly, esp since a week has elapsed and there's little change. Keep us posted please .

The fuel pump and filter are inside the tank and the bottom of the rear seat is removed for access. This is true of most cars. There should be no fuel smell even right after the service. The pump and filter are sealed into the tank, the system is completely closed and there is no vent. In addition there are access covers under the seat to further isolate the tank.

You should complain. Fuel leaks are dangerous.
In the meantime, no smoking.
