Exclamation Week 42 build on M6 Cabrio & Poll question...

Today I got the great news... week 42 on my M6 Cabrio... I am now stoked! I have to go in and see about the options, although I have seen some posts on here. I am not so interested in HD radio, since I want RTI. Is this confirmed now? I would hate to pass up HD radio for RTI only to find we wont have it

Also, I think I am ditching the CD changer option and will put my new iPod that has been sitting in a drawer in an unopened box since last Christmas waiting for the BMW interface to become reality... go figure, right

So, someone, which week exactly is week 42? Who has the quick reference (is that the 4th week in September)?

Can we do a poll? Who with a coupe now will convert to the cabrio? Mods, can you make that poll?

You're getting rid of your coupe!!! You just had it delivered!

I am keeping the HD radio myself. I figure when I drive my baby, I won't be in any hurry to get anywhere.

As for week 42... I am week 38 and expecting a build around the 2nd week of September with the car in my hands no later than 10 days after that. I don't have the quick reference you are referring to, but I can find out. I'll check on it today.

If you use Outlook you can turn on the week numbers in Calendar options and the show in the date navigator in the far left hand pane. For definitions of week numbers see below (it's amazing what Google turns up!)

Week 38 starts on 18 September and week 42 on the 16th October. Cars are usually built by the Thursday and take just over two weeks to reach UK dealers.

Anyone lucky enough to get a build during the first 6 weeks (2007 starts week 36) will get LOADS of admiring glances as they'll most certainly be the first cars in their area.

As far as I know so far the CD changer is being dropped in favour of the iPod interface for MY2007.

Tim

ISO 8601 defines the Week as always starting with Monday being Day 1 and finishing with Sunday being Day 7. Therefore, the days of a single ISO Week can be in two different Calendar Years; and, because a Calendar Year has one or two more than 52×7 days, an ISO Year has either 52 or 53 Weeks. The first Week of a Year is Number 01, which is :-
  • defined as being the week which contains the first Thursday of the Calendar year; which implies that it is also :-
  • the first week which is mostly within the Calendar year,
  • the week containing January 4th,
  • the week starting with the Monday nearest to January 1st.
In Outlook that means setting the first week of the year to the first 4 day week.

OK, I just spoke with my dealer. Week 38 starts 18 September and yes it is run according to the calander. Tim, I think you are just one week off by the information I received from my dealer and my counting skills (I counted off the weeks three times just to be sure :-)

I am getting so antsy waiting!!! This is torture!

My post was a week out because I had the first week of the year set incorrectly in Outlook. I've edited it now to reflect the correct data.

Swapping Coupe for Cab?

I currently have an Indy Red Coupe with Black Leather and CF trim. My Client Advisor has a Black with Sepang Cab available as their first allocation. I'm tempted to swap. I've only had the Coupe since May, but I really liked my 645 Cab. I can just imagine the sound of the Exhaust at 8200 rpm with the top dropped. I'm sure I'll take a bath on the swap, but It may be worth it. Any comments or opinions?

Only you can decide if it's worthwhile, however, black with sepang inside will be an absolutely delicious combination, imho.

aint about nice

taking this whole post with a grain of salt, and playing devil's advocate...as Either the cab or coupe will be nutty fun...but...playing devil's advocate....

cab=nice; a tad softer;
coupe = down to earth, wholesome nastyness.

if i had to do it again, it'd be a 50/50 toss up. you will NOT go wrong either way, but that would be my opinion....if you want narly nasty fast and tight, coupe. i cant imagine doing 90mph or more with the top down. might not hear anything other than wind howling.

i might imagine all the gizmos to handle the top must weigh a tad more than the carbon hard top. i might also suggest that while i'm sure their soft tops work really well, its just another mechanical piece that at some point will fail. getting stuck out with the top down could cause major issues if a failure occurs at the wrong time.

then again, whaling around getting sun on your face, popping gears at 7500 rpm, and all that fresh air might be awsome.

50/50.
flip the coin.
