Prep Time at Vehicle Preparation Center

So the "Monster" apparently hit the US shores yesterday (Port Charleston ) so I am anxiously awaiting the arrival at the dealer. Anyone know the average time it takes a car to get through the VPC? Trying to gauge when the car is likely to get here, since I have a trip coming up. Would TOTALLY suck if it gets in while I am away for a whole week!!!

I'd like to know the answer, too. My M6 has been on a boat for a while--I wonder if it just showed up in SC as well--though the tracking still lists it as in transit. I believe some options don't get installed till the car goes through the VPC, so my guess is you're looking at around 10 days before you get it. Just a guess.

My car hit the port yesterday as well and is at the VPC today, Sunday. I think the time spent at a given VPC is all over the board. My west coast dealer (Hueneme VPC) says M's are moving through very quickly. He recently had an M5 that went through the VPC and was at the dealer (750 miles away) in 3 days! The big variable is the trucking company.

I'm expecting mine to be at the dealer by the end of the week, hopefully I'm not dreaming.

Good luck to everyone!!

MTO, how far is the VPC from your dealer? Is 1-day transport feasible? And did they by any chance mention the current throughput of the east coast VPCs?

According to map-Quest it's about 933 miles about 14 hours. No mention of the speed of the east coast VPC's. I think the speed changes depending on volume, warranty campaigns, things like that.

That's not bad. It could realistically be at your dealer on Tuesday. I hate to say this, but it looks like you'll be winning your own hat, lol. Wednesday might be a very good day.

Mine arrived within 3 days from VPC. I guess they are moving the M6s pretty fast.

That's what I'm talking about! At this point I'd be happy with 4 or 5 days, just as long as I can get it by the 16th!

My car arrived at port on a Sunday. I'm still uncertain whether they
unloaded on Sunday or waited until Monday as I believe the VPC was
closed on Sunday (don't quote me on that). I got the call from the
dealership Thursday afternoon (BTW, this is west coast).

Sounds like the long wait for many people is about over! Maybe I'll
see you on the streets sometime soon MaxTimeOff...of course SoCal is a
big area. I'm always on the lookout for another M6.
