Having just read the M6 brochure and spec pages at bmwusa.com, I'm surprised that the unladed weight of the M6 is listed at 3909 lb, and the M5 is listed at 4012 lb.
That's a difference of just 103 lb (the weight of 2 blocks of salt for a water softener
). I had thought that per (press kits) the M6 came in at ~3770 lb, and was approximately 265 lb lighter than the M5.
I had also thought that the M6's wheels were forged-alloy, however, the specs show them as cast-alloy.
Oh well...
