OMG! You should read the manual telling that the first oil change is after 2000kms during the break in period which lasts until you reach 5000kms...
And for starters it is normal that you loose a couple of desiliters of oil time to time...
So you have not experienced any problem yet. I wish you many enjoyable kms with your new fantastic beast.
Cheers

Do not worry paradise man. Your beast will drink some oil when it is new. Mine drank about 3-4 litres before the about 20.000km inspection. After the inspection the oil consumption has normalized. 20.000-40.000kms I have had to fill about 2 times 0,5 litres. You do not need to keep oil cans with you. I only ones kept a spare 1 litre when I started a trip to Nuerburgring for 2 weeks last spring (6000kms).
Always remember to fill 0,5 litres a time but not exceeding that 1 litre mark at the display. (When your gage drops to 0,5-0,3 then add 0,5L)

I absolutely love the machine. This is my very first BMW and all I can say is impressive. I took delivery 1 month ago. Black Sapphire, Inddianapolis Red interior, Carbon Fiber trim, Head-up, HD Radio, Sat Radio, and comfort access. I just finished my 1,200 mile break in, had the service done, and this thing is like a rocket.

Great color combo exactly like mine. It took me 2 months to get to 1200 miles and finally just had the service. What a difference a few rpms make. My weather in Naples, Fl. looks a lot better for the top down than yours in Utah. 80 degrees today!
