Hi Everyone,
First of all, I wanted to say thank you to the forum for all of the information I was able to read up on when I was trying to decide what car I wanted next. I'm happy to say I landed on the E63 M6 and from the information I read here, I think I bought one that *hopefully* won't drain my bank account too badly within the next year or two... I ended up buying an '07 with 80K miles that is almost all stock minus H&R Springs, and some exterior CF bits and pieces and CF Lip. After researching here, I took my time to find one that just had the SMG pump, VANOS, and a bunch of other smaller ticket items replaced or serviced. Apparently the previous owner's mechanic said that the rod-bearings are in good shape but I plan on having the oil analyzed before deciding if I want to pre-emptively replace them or not. The previous owner is an M enthusiast (also owns a E60 M5 and E92 M3, sold this M6 to get a new F12) and had a nicely organized stack of maintenance records so hopefully I got a good one...
The car is getting put on the delivery truck today (I'm in DC and went all the way to LA to buy it) so these next several days are going to be a painful wait for me
In the meantime, to make the days go by faster, I'm resorting to the best way I know how: spending money on parts. So far, I bought some small things that I noticed that the car needed (new turn signal lenses, windshield moulding, emblems, floor mats, etc.) and was wondering if you all had any suggestions on things I should order? I know you don't know anything about the car but are there some general things that can be replaced to make the car feel as new/fresh as possible? I've never bought a "fun" car with this many miles before (I just got married and had a baby over the past year... my fun car budget is not what it used to be :sad3: ) so I want to do whatever I can, within reason, to make it feel "new to me". I'm thinking things along the lines of cabin air filters or little parts that have been updated/changed since '07, nothing too big like to LCI lights (yet....).
Also, I used to be a Porsche Carrera owner and on those forums, we had 2 go-to dealerships that would sell us OEM parts cheaper than anywhere else. Are there any dealerships or sites that are the go-to for BMW folks?
Sorry for the long, rambling post! Thank you in advance for any suggestions and I look forward to hanging out on this forum!
