Fitting Eisenmann Race - Resonator solution needed?

Hi Guys,

I'm hoping some of you can help that may have already gone through this exercise or know of someone who has. E63/4 or E60.

My current exhaust setup I have is SS extension pipe with 2ndary cat delete and SS X-pipe with mid muffler delete with SS sports mufflers.

I purchased Eisenmann Race mufflers but not fitted as yet and fully aware of how loud this will be fitting to stock set up let alone what I have.

So to tone it down, does anyone know of good stainless stainless bullet resonators or stainless X-pipe muffler I can buy to drop the dB volume & kill off the drone it may create as I dont want to be the most hated neighbour.

Appreciate everyone's support & feedback.

Thanks:smile

Hi Hasan,

Thanks for your feedback, but i got rid of all my factory system as it was rusted out.

I did it back the front because i had the supersprint sport mufflers on to the factory pipes already on the car when i bought it, but the the factory pipes were rusted. So, I wanted to make it louder by purchasing straight Supersprint X-pipe option with mid muff & 2nd cats deleted. Loud enough for the road laws the way it is but still not loud enough to be music to my ears to give me that F1 sound.

Im just trying prepare myself to tone it down as what i know will be a very loud set up. A local eisenmann supplier mentioned that resonators will reduce the dB reading more than the cats?????

I did a lot of digging and shopping around, finally got my Eisenmann oval Sport mufflers ordered and on the way from Europe (saved a good $600+ ordering from overseas). I've been itching for this mod ever since I bought my first M6.

I strongly considered the Eisenmann Race, but it's is way too loud for my neck of the woods. Even though they are the same price, the dealer I ordered from warned me the Race would be crazy loud, and told me the E Sport is the perfect in between stock and E Race in terms of decibel loudness. I've also read that that the Race is sometimes prone to droning, which wouldn't really bother me but might be annoying to passengers. If I didn't live in such a quiet neighborhood I'd probably opt for the Race.

I'd love to hear a clip of yours once you mount them with whatever x-pipe or resonator setup you end up going with!

Raven,

Yeah I got mine through European tuning shop online $1962 USD delivered. I was told the Sport is too quiet, but with my 2nd cat delete n mid muffler delete I know it's going to be ridiculously loud. So Not sure whether to put a bullet resonator on each side or start with Mid section muffler with 2 inlet 2 outlet.

Mine is not a daily driver and for neighbours they are good around me n it's quiet, but not for long. hehehe.

Im going to have to fit them first and then work with recommendations from there to get it close to what the RACE version is like on the Modbargains Youtube clip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrOco_Q88Qs

This is what mine will sound like not factoring in that i deleted mid muffler. Yikes eeeeeeee :)-I) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zv3L5qR0NoI

Ant Msix,

That's not a bad price considering you can't find them anywhere in the US for less than $2400 (at least I couldn't find them less than that). Are you in Europe or US? I just got them installed today for a reasonable price of $115. So total otd just under $2,000 installed.

The sport is definitely not quiet, it's considerably and noticeably louder than the stock exhaust especially when revved @ around 5-6k. I think it's just the right amount of loudness before it would get obnoxious to neighbors and/or other drivers. If I didn't have to take in those considerations, I definitely would have gotten the race instead.

I can only imagine how insanely loud the race will sound with your setup!

Raven,

Im in Australia. You in the US?

Same system here in OZ is $4K AUD. Very pricey and that doesnt include install.

Really looking forward to installing it, but dreading how loud it's going to be as my next door neighbour is a handful at best of times and shes going to hate it. I plan to buy a 2 inlet 2 out 3inch mid muffler to quieten it down, but 1st i want to see how loud it is with conservative driving in local back streets.

You hear Harley Davidson's in OZ and you can hear them from a mile away and nothing is ever done about it.

OZ is a bit of a nanny country when it comes to modifications. This aint no California or Texas! US lucky country to have mods I reckon. :)

Yeah I'm in Texas...you do see a ton of modded cars/bikes here. No one really pays attention to the loud Harley's here either, but people do seem to cry about crotch rockets with loud pipes. I have an Akra system on my R1 and get mean stares at times. I got pulled over for loud pipes when I had my older R1 which had a MIG exhaust, those weren't even as loud as Akra's or GYTR type exhausts. Not sure how the car world is Down Under, but I know from the bike forums that there are ton of bad azz modded bikes in OZ, many done very tastefully.

So after I got my E Sport installed today, I notice it's drawing quite a bit more attention...as mentioned this thing is pretty loud compared to the stock exhaust. If your neighbors are nannies you might want to try and quiet down the race a bit because it will likely wreak some havoc!

No Hasan. I just meant that the test pipes would sound good on what he's got now (the SS straight sec 1, non res xpipe and Sport cans).

I think it could sound surprising because the lack of secondaries would add a little meanness to the Sport mufflers.

Would never give this advice to anyone not in OP's unique position. Thinking of way to get his sound and maybe some power. Cannot see anyone with any noise/drone issues running the E race without at least some sort of cat in sec 1.

My Etronic exhaust utilizes the QTP valves as well.

As usual, I think you are spot on if OP is done "modding" though.
You have helped solve many complex problems with simple solutions and are always willing to follow up.

Yes. I agree with you.

I had similar setup with straight pipes and Tubi sport mufflers.

I have eisenmann race on my m6, primary cat removed, secondary cat intact.

very loud drone around 1500~2000rpm, I want to put a helmholtz or 1/4 wave length resonator to kill the done but I dont think there is any space to do that without losing ground clearance which is already pretty bad with h&r springs..

love the sound when I go WOT but I'll have to admit that I hate the drone down low, its often embarrassing in underground or shopping mall car parks etc but hey its a 5litre v10 so... haha

Hi Guys,

Ok the Eisenmann Race is fitted along with the SS X-pipe and with 2nd Cat / Mid muffler delete it is a LOUD screammer. Sounds absolutely F1 supercar style. Love the sound, but dont think my neighbours are going to put up with it for long. I think I should have gone the SPORT version but just never thought it sounded loud enough.

So in order to get the sound balance right I just want to take out the loud Bark it creates when you accelerate. Anyone done aftermarket fitting of undercarriage mufflers and if so what type? It would have to be either a dual 2-in 2-out narrow style centre muffler or would need to be circular tube style to fit in the tight cavity.

Any suggestions or experience would be much appreciated.

Thanks

There is this free mobile app called spectrum analyzer, you can leave it on and drive the car around and it will show you the peak (red line in the graph) dB of the noise.

As you can see in the screenshot, the peak is around 135hz, and by far its the loudest spot of the frequency.

Perhaps you should do the same and figure out what kind of loudness you are getting so we can sort of compare? :)

Thanks Mate. I will try it and let you know.

I think because with primary cats in still it's loud as hell but more muffler not under carriage.

I just want to take the BARK out and I know local guy can align 2 magnaflow 4 inch barrel mufflers with a join plate to bring them together. Bit of customisation but anything is possible.

Hi Guys,

Not sure if yourself or anyone else still have your vehicle and can provide pics of your under carriage for support to the solution of either brands VIBRANT 1411/1412 or SOLO PERFORMANCE resonators 3 inch were installed in your cars. As statedsounds crazy but after 3 day club drive on the weekend does my head in and drawing too much attention especially cold starts. MY GOD!

Current System:
OEM Headers + Primay cats
Supersprint X pipe (OEM 2nd cats / OEM resonator DELETE)
Eisenmann Race Mufflers

Can anyone please help or share pics to show the set up with the resonators were installed. Be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
