So go and buy one then, I still think it is crap compared to what it is supposed to replace!

What you love about the E39 others love about the E63. Apples and oranges my friend, that's what makes the world go around.
Touche Lupo Touche, I am just disappointed that BMW didn't push the boat out a little more, the 635csi was such an icon in its time, just seems to me that the new 6 series leaves a lot to be desired, although the M6 should be awesome and a rightful replacement.

I see your point. I guess a lot of the "iconic" values of the 635CSi has to do with the time it was in. Since the mid-80's, there's been a lot more new coupes and high performance ones, which may have numbed our senses, so some of us might think the E63 M6 is not that exciting. Whereas back in the time of the 635CSi, there were much less high performance coupes than today, and so it was easier to assume "iconic" standard. How many cars did the 635CSi compete with then? How many cars will the E63 M6 compete with today? High performance coupe is a competitive segment to be in today, and I would think the E60 M5 has a better chance of assuming iconic standard than the E63 M6. (Still, I'm getting the E63 M6)!

The M5 was in classic but nice silver and stunning blue over white(first light interior I really looked twice at) and the CSL got great when Brabus played with the interior and wheels to. What went wrong in marketing ?
What Brabus did to the CSL others can do to the M5, meaning maching aluminium stuff for like the gear consol an so. My C class had such crappy weak interior pices to, needed to be changed!
Btw. the blue M6 seen at the Ring is just sooo much better...
Brabus is a Mercedes tuner - he never touched the M3 CSL. Or do you happen to mean the CLS?

OK, we hear your message. The E24 may have had bigger emotional appeal in the context of its times, and the E60 might be too "fat & ugly" for your taste, but the E60 is obviously a today's car, separately by a long shot, so I think the comparison is rather stretched.

Will someone please tell BMW to redesign the SMG shift surround for the M5 and M6 in black!! The present pseudo-metallic appearance clashes with every interior trim except metallic.
By the way, here's the BMW chuckle for the day. To quote from the M6 press release on the BMW USA web site:
"As a full 2+2 the M6 offers generous seating for four."
The 6-series back seat is an extra place to stash groceries, not people, but I do find the M6 attractive.
