I am from Florida and building my G intani super charged bmw m6. I am currently in the process of building the motor. Gintani gave me some options of which route i wanted to go, my car at the time was making 680rwhp on a stock motor. Great numbers btw) Stay tuned. This build will get a bigger blower, the block is being sleeved and low compression pistons and rods. I am up in the air about the crank. I can make it a 5.5 stroker since everything else is being upgraded. I am looking on having the fastest M6 in america on pump gas.
rod bearings are also being upgraded as well. I will attend that big crazy meet in texas this year to race some ESS M5s and M6s. i AM very excited right now.
I'm working with Clevite to design a new rod bearing for the S65/S85. The new bearings will allow you to keep the stock size rod journals without resizing, and have safer bearing clearance. They will be a lead/copper bearing plus Clevite Tri-Armor low friction coating. These will be a true upgrade to factory bearings, or WPC treated bearings.
Production will be completed around May-2015. Depending on the time of your build, you might want to consider this. The cranks are usually a 12-week lead time. May 2015 will be a bit later, but the new bearings might be worth considering.
alex at gintani can explain a little better about what happened to motor. We could of just thrown a new piston and rod and it would of been fine. The cylinder walls were "slightly"nicked so instead of just changing the piston and rod and having same hp we decided to just build out the motor. We are doing a 5.5 stroker kit and an upgraded stage 3 blower, Sleeved low compression build. Alex estimates 800rwhp+ I believe PUMP 93 OCTANE gas. I am trying to see what we can do with race gas etc. to see higher numbers. I don't know what the fastest m6 in america is pushing BUT I believe not many people have gone this route and posted about it.
Price well lets just say gintani is worked a very good deal i couldn't pass up. They really have been supportive and been helping me out with it all. Very knowledgeable guys
pencil geek. gintani informed me that the crank would take 3 weeks to be completed. 12 weeks is ridiculously long, I would miss the tx event and I'd be be here in florida angry that i missed it which is in march lol.
They must already have a crank in process because the normal lead time is 12 weeks from this crank manufacturer. You are one lucky dude to get it that fast. I lucked out just like that on an S65 project when I went to order a stroker crank for a guy and found that a very nice 4340-steel crank had been cancelled and was just sitting on the shelf. I bought it without even thinking twice because it sure beats a 12-week wait.
I don't follow the M5/M6 world, but it sounds like you will be king of the hill with that buid. Congrats man, can't wait.
On another note I have agreed to a bigger stroke. It will be a 5.5 liter low compression motor. I am beyond excited at this moment about all of this. ^_^ An m6 with a sleeved stroked out low compression build with a big blower is exciting.
I don't know I spoke with alex an he informed me a 3 week turn around time. Before I send him the additional funding for crank I'll ask him again. He's a down to earth guy. I don't know about king of the hill, but I AM shooting for it. I ran their stage 2 kit at almost 700rwhp on a factory clutch and launched a few times off of it and it was just fine. Its a brand new oem clutch in there since the old one went out at 55k. If this clutch doesn't hold its fine, I'll upgrade it when it goes, i just want to see how much it can hold before it starts slipping.
I am also dying to see the drivability with this car. A car that can run 800rwhp on pump gas is a feat in itself, because that signifies your car as a daily, and can perform like a monster on everyday gas. I will post pix of new block etc. when I get them. As of now the project has already been 60% paid for. And the rest will be when completed. I see it like this, get as much hp as possible and race. What is the point of having so much hp and not racing?
Wow this build is ridiculous! I had test fitted a gintani kit on my old car, it's an awesome kit bro. Didn't end up keeping the kit tho, it was more of a test fit and DYNO type thing. NEver ended up keeping it with a blower on since I couldn't afford the money for one. But needless to say their tuning and exhaust mods my car DID have was top notch. They are a great company and I am glad you are doing a huge build like this . I hope I see you in Texas bro. Hopefully I'll be in another m6 since my last one I sold
I can barely put 600rwhp to the ground in 3rd gear. I can't imagine 800rwhp. Your probably going to be looking at 4th gear being your lowest useful gear. Good luck with this and review what the Russian M3 guy did with his epic engine build as to what not to do.
Amazing! i think you (And Alex@Gintani) should forget about Race fuel and focus on an E85 Solution....upgrade the fuel system to handle E85 or flex fuel like us Boosted S54 M3 guys have done.....
we did it, you can do it.....there are atleast 15 of us in North America....Built S54s....ProEFI or AEM infinity...flex fuel....Single Turbo........700-1100rwhp
i will see you at the Texas Mile! OR tx2k15....or Runway Rivalry in March 2015.....or whichever Texas event you speak of!
If AEM would show any interest in building an S85 program, they might pick up some users. They clearly advertise it as a capability but on inquiry, there are none running it. Neel Vasavada of Apex Speed Tech (brilliant engineer/tuner) sells the AEM line, but still recommends the ViPEC or MoTec M150 for the S85. The MoTec route at least provides the possibility to build your own program and compile it using M1 Build with a developers license. I was told by AEM the plans to release the development software to customers were nixed in a management change.
Seeing Flexfuel on an S85 would be great though, hopefully someone will pave the way for that.
E85 is an inquiry i had to gintani. The goal of my build is to make the most power on pump 93 octane gas. Everyday driveability is what I'm looking to do, race gas is another option and although it does raise your hp frantically it's almost like cheating to me because it's obvious your car doesn't always run that way. You can tell how powerful a motor is by what it puts down on pump gas imho. I am excited about the build but im also throwing around more ideas. Additional funding is coming so I may go all out and try for 1000rwhp++
I am also looking on lightening the car, I will talk to TROY jeup about his light weight seat Oprions a carbon fiber hood and take the car to get wrapped. It'll be very mean and being on a big blower the power will be instant
It looks like someone has beaten you to the punch. I heard today that there is a Troy Jeup stroker that has been supercharged by ESS currently driving around the northern Ohio/Michigan area.
What kind of numbers is he putting down? Any pix dyno's etc? Evidence of it or power Goals etc. I'd love to see the set up just to compare for informational purposes only
I'd like to see it as well. I had heard that the project was in the works but I had no idea until now they had actually built it. No hard evidence though. I am hearing this from someone that is doing work on my car and he saw it. I am not sure if the car owner is a board member or not.
Ok well this build is documented. I will see the limits of factory clutch with this set up before upgrading it. Let me know if you find anything else out.
