So the newest Corvette was unveiled by GM and I have to say, I'm actually liking what I see so far. In the past, I've had to dismiss the Vette due to the absolute GARBAGE interior. I have, however, envied the performance figures...
What are your reactions to the new styling? Did they nail the interior, finally?
From the outside, I see it kinda like the newer Viper mated with the Aston Martin?!?
(The red version is the C7 Z51 Stingray -- the silver is the C7 base...)
I believe most of the new models from US manufacturers released recently are a huge improvement over previous versions. And the improvements are on both exterior and interior.
I especially like the new Jeep STR8. Need to get me one of those.
I am really impressed with this. Being a C6 Z06 owner, I know the flaws of the corvette very well. While I will never get rid of my C6 Z06 because I have $160,000 wrapped up into it ~ I will find myself in a C7 ZR1 when it comes out. Definitely a homerun by GM.
I like it. Especially the stingray version. The interior looks so much better than the old C6 Corvette but still I wouldn't take it over the M6 Beast! hiha
I always thought bang for the buck vettes are a great deal, if you compare it to a comparable performing true blood sports car they are a good deal. Interiors have gotten better with GM products and the styling of this new vette is a great improvement over previous versions, if I was in the market it would be a serious consideration.
The exterior is defiantly a great job. The interior is still so, so with the usual GM smattering of cheap looking pieces to muck up an otherwise fine design.
-The time when engineers ruled the world has past. That torch has been handed to the accountants.-
My C5 z06 has the holy crap handle as well....different location, but it's got one....lol
I'm not a GM fan at all, and this includes the new C7. Maybe it'll grow on me? Doubtful..lol. I only bought my C5 z06 for track purposes as they perform great on track and parts are cheap.
Still on fence till I see one, sit in one....feel it. First impressions are it moves a bit too much towards an angular Viperesque macho mode for my tastes. I might change my mind after it is in the dealerships, but it does rather follow the design philosophy of the Camaro from several angles, which is Chevy's current thing which is just not my bag. Give it some time on me...
GM nailed it from the exterior, interior and performance (under 4s 0-60 for the BASE model). The only problem I see with the design is that the four tail lamps are not round any more. That is the signature of Corvette. It is like if the bimmer designs changed our grills to two perfect circles. That just lost the crucial homage to their heritage. I got it for the revolutionary look but there is something you have to keep.
The other problem with Corvette is that even though it looks like a 599 GTB at 1/5 of the cost, there are simply way too many of them. GM sold 40,000 a year, which means for every M6 out there, there are at least 13 Corvettes (just during the same model years). That is why you see them roaming around everyday but seeing our beasts is like a sighting. Sometimes what makes you FEEL special is not how fast you go, how good it looks, but the fact that you are the only one on the road driving it.
Looks nice, though I'm not liking the back end.
The taillights are too chunky and camaro-like.
I'm sure the performance numbers will be very impressive.
I think it looks amazing and its probably going to be fast as hell although I dont know how they are going to make it faster than the z06. But my main problem is the price you pay for the name brand. At the end of the day its still a chevy. This is why im not a gtr fan either. At the end of the day its a Nissan. I just couldnt justify paying the $$ for the company brand. Only exception i'd ever make is Viper. But the thing does look mean.
It's a start but it confirms that my switch from being a corvette freak to a European car freak was still the right move. It still looks like they added here and there after the fact. JMO of course
I like how these last 2 generations have looked similar to a Ferrari. This one seems more of a mixture of different cars put together, its like mix'n'matching strategy.
The new vette looks bad *** and I'm sure its better in every way than the last one. I wish I had the cash to buy an extra car. But I would not sell the M6 for that.
It's not too bad as a design, but the demographic for these cars is totally different than a M or any 6 series. My father-in-law drives a Vette convert and he is 72.
For most of these buyers they are really tokens of days gone by and collectors that will never open them up or drive them like an M. Frankly, I think they should come standard with an 8-track of the Beach Boys in the dash.
That being said, I would not refuse one as a gift.
I absolutely love the design. The car could easily be mistaken for an exotic. The interior looks good enough for me. The only thing I don't love are the tail lights; they make the rear look too much like the Camaro.
My only problem, like others have said, is that in two years this car will be everywhere. I like to drive a car that you do not see every day. When I go out for a Sunday drive on a nice summer day I see countless corvettes, however, I am lucky to see another M6 over the whole summer!
Interior isn't what I expected... looks like they went back to the C4 a bit (see pic below with the wrap around cockpit)... I would love for them to figure this out.. sadly, I prefer the interior of my 6 yr old M6...JMO
I think may be the next facelift Chevy will fix the rear end.
