How do you...

take your car into the dealer if it has a tune. Mine has a Dinan tune and if I was to take it to the dealer for updates or service works, aren't they going to flash it to stock? Should you just give the dealer a heads up when you are taking the car in? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I never had an ECU tuned car...

If you've a Dinan tune, the dealer probably installed it. If I were you, I would tell them no software uploads, no test drives without authorization, and no free car washes to scratch the paint!

Seriously, the dealer will re-flash the Dinan tune if it is somehow removed but tell 'em no software updates without your permission.

Thanks! Just like I thought... Are you sure the dealer will be able to re-flash the ECU if they were to delete it? Any dealer can do this?

BMW dealers have historically been the source of the dinan software install-just ask them, but make sure in advance that you tell them you don't want to reflash the car and if they do wipe it out, they are responsible for the reflash no charge. Shouldn't be a problem whatsoever.

Not all dealers are authorized Dinan dealers. If a dealership isn't an authorized Dinan dealer and they knock out your tune, they cannot reflash it. However, Dinan keeps the VINs of all vehicles that have had a Dinan tune and any Dinan service shop can reflash for you (you will not be re-billed for the software if your VIN is in Dinan's system).

You can search them here: Dinan Cars - BMW Performance Products, Upgrades and Services
