When I bought my M6 it came with an eisenmann race installed, which sounded amazing however it was just too loud under 4k rpm and for "normal driving". There are only a few exhaust choices, and I wanted to buy used. So it was down to a tubi rumore and dinan. I have the stock exhaust still, however that would be too tame. I was able to pick up a Dinan and have it installed yesterday. I think the tubi would still be too loud for my daily driving, having that "always ON" sound.

Start up: it was louder than expected. Not as loud as the e-race but louder than stock. Neither sounds as good as my E90 M3 w/eisenmann sport at idle however . Advantage dinan.

Slow driving: its 90% as loud as the e-race and kept that "exotic f1" pitch that I love. Advantage dinan since you get all the nice tone without the heavy cabin "boom".

Floor it acceleration: under 4k rpm fairly similar to the e-race, but over 4k rpm its not as epic as the e-race. The e-race escalates as you get closer to 8k rpm, the dinan seems to taper off around 7k. Advantage e-race.

In the cabin: The e-race was intolerable for me. Honestly, I would get a headache after long drives. Super drone on the highway. The dinan is silent on the highway, lol. You can hear it when you downshift, etc so you know its there. Advantage dinan.

Cold Start: Obviously the e-race was embarrasing, the dinan was still a bit loud - louder than I thought it would be but tolerable. Advantage dinan.

Appearance: I MISS the oval tips on the e-race. so sweet. however I do like the engraved tips on the dinan. Advantage e-race.

Overall: I miss the epic top end the e-race provides, however I like everything else about the dinan better. I feel like I "neutered" the car a bit by taking the "balls out" exhaust off, ha ha. The e-race tells everybody "here I come!!!!" a mile away all the time. The dinan provides a similar "tone" of the sweet f1 sound, at 60% of the noise. I dont think I'm the kind of guy who wants that kind of attention every second I'm driving.

Now if they could only make an exhaust that has the daily civility of the dinan, but with the high pitch excitement of the e-race over 4k rpm... that would be worth some $$$$$

Overall I'm very happy with the switch. After owning the car for 6 weeks, I got to drive the family to dinner for the first time since its not going to hurt the kids ears.

Just my $.02

Mike
I found this funny because I've actually been thinking about switching my Dinan out for an Eisenmann Race. The Dinan sounds good and all, but after hearing a few Eisenmann's around here I feel like the Eisenmann puts out a louder, more sporty and higher quality note. However, I'm still trying to decide because I don't want to make the wrong decision by losing the Dinan. Is the Eisenmann really that much louder??

Yes, it is much louder at all speeds. the Dinan seems to tapper off over 5k RPM, where the e-race just escalates! It sounds amazing. I wasn't as concerned about how loud on the outside, However I just couldn't live with the loud noise in the cabin at all speeds. Too much resonance and drone.

however this is just my humble opinion...

Oh okay well the fact that the exterior sound is that much louder gives me hope! Do you think the sound is worth replacing an already aftermarket exhaust? The drone is a bit worrying though, I might try to experience before getting it then.

It sounds amazing, like a mad lambo. I miss it. However the downside is you are announcing to everybody a mile away "here I come", and you have to decide if you can deal with a super loud exhaust sound inside the cabin. I could deal with the outside attention, but couldn't deal with the headache of the boom coming from the exhaust full time.

Good example: I have to drive 45 min to a client meeting today in the rain. I would not want to be driving for 45 min with the e-race, windows rolled up.

Others should chime in. Everybody's tolerance for these things will be unique and different.

I have E-Race on my 08 Vert.

It is really not all that loud inside the cabin and I have a soft top.

There is no drone with the Eisenmann. If your getting a drone you just need to shift up and keep your RPM's under 5k for cruising.

Obviously you will get a drone if your cruising in 5th/6th gear at 6500 RPM or above.

It is all around the BEST exhaust I have herd on an M6.

Nothing compares to E-Race.

Just like mrmojom3 said it sounds like a MAD LAMBO when your getting on it.

I have herd Dinan before on a couple M5's and I can barely even hear the exhaust.

With the E-Race it is a constant reminder that you are in a 500HP V-10 BEAST!!!!!

Here is a little video of my car with the E-Race exhaust

Hope this helps.

Oh okay well the most important thing for me is the sound of the car, I feel like I will be able to tolerate a little extra cabin noise. Thanks a lot for the input, as much as I love the Dinan, I think I want a new sound for my car.

And Jackson1019, your m6 sounds amazing in that video! So I'm assuming you can choose whether or not you want oval tips with the Eisenmann race?

You guys were really helpful about this exhaust issue!

Thanks for the nice comments. Much appreciated.

Yes you can choose between oval tips and round tips. The round tips come in at around $2,500 and the oval tips are around $2,900.

I think its dumb how you have to pay an extra $400-$500 dollars for oval tips so I just went with the round.

Damn that's ridiculous that they make you pay that much more for just a different shape....Well anyways you've convinced me to get an Eisenmann, so thanks a lot!
