2008 LCI Weisslicht Ver 3 Install
I just completed installing the Weisslicht LED Angel Eye upgrade on my 2008 M6. In addition to my hands being a swollen mess, I'm a little disappointed with the whole experience. I ordered the upgrade from Bimmian because their website noted they were in stock. Surprise, surprise, they were on back order, despite me paying the upgraded shipping. When they did arrive, the confusion began. In the box were instructions for a e90 (2010). In addition, to the LEDs, included in the box was a cylindrlical piece (resister/capacitor) and another connection with little box. Of course, there were no instructions whether to use both pieces or only one. I had done my homework and knew that there was some modification required. When I went to Bimmian, I found a PDF, but it was for Angel iBrights. After much searching, I found the E63 instructions. I rotated the LEDs like I was supposed to, and assumed the instructions for the E90 upgrade, differentiating right from left/driver from passenger was correct, and boy did I get a surprise. The lateral angel eye wouldn't light up. I remembered something about lining up with some "holes" in the light assembly and when I looked, the alignment was wrong. Turns out the instructions were wrong. I employed the help of my wife (smaller hands) but I had already committed a bulb to the wrong side. Taking it out was a b!tch. I was certain I would break a wire. After many trials and tribulations, I got it out and installed them on the right side. During the installation, I turned on my car to ensure the LEDs worked, but also to check for error codes (none noted). After the install, I now get the dreaded "error" messages but they quickly disappear. I assume the little box connection confuses the onboard computer (just my guess). But the real kicker, is that the lateral angel eye is significantly dimmer than the medial angel eye. In addition, with the HIDs on, the angel eyes are significantly brighter than the HIDs and that by itself is a little unsightly. If I've done something wrong, please chime in. I'd appreciate it.
