How long did your clutch last with SMG transmission

This poll is for members with SMG transmission.

Assuming you drive your car very hard, you do Launch Control only about once or twice a year:

How much mileage did you have on your beast before the clutch had to be replaced due to normal wear and tear?

Please post Model Year of your beast.

Thanks!

Thankfully I can't vote on this one; 39K and running strong IMO. (I have launched it at least 50 times.)

I do eventually get the death bang when stopped at a light; my fiend's M5 is around 50K with no problems and has the same bang starting at a light every now and then, he does drive like a pansy though.

Hi Dan,

Great follow-up thread. I hesitate typing this as I feel like it's tweaking the tiger's tail but mine is still going strong at 54k miles. I drive it very hard all the time...just ask my long-suffering wife, Mia! I've only launched it once and really don't see the point...I prefer road racing.

I can't wait to see the results, it should be very interesting.
Take Care,
Milton

P.S. Mine is a MY 2007.

2008 22k miles and no issues.

You should ask folks to post the year of their car. Would be interesting to see if there are fewer issues with later model years?

Thanks for the great suggestion Mike. I have edited my original post and ask members to post year of their car.

I didnt ask originally because year of car is usually listed under our handle name, under "Garage".

Dan

2006, 57k miles, original clutch, no signs of slipping (knock on wood)

Usual driving for the past year and a half was P500S in S5, I've recently changed over to P500 and S4.

Quick question while we're on the subject; I'm having a hard time fining a good place to use launch control out here in Hawaii. I've activated launch control a few times just to see if I could do it, but have never taken off after activating it. Does that count as a launch? Does it do any damage by just activating it, or do you actually have to launch forward for it to take it's toll?

If you only activated it, it's just holding the revs, no different from you pushing on the pedal in neutral. Once you actually launch is when it starts abusing your clutch
