Stock Alloy Wheels - Question

People,

My 19 inch standard wheels are looking a little grubby. The centre area looks to have its laquer lifted and water has caused them to bubble slightly. Is this something you can get replaced off the warranty or is it down to wear and tear. My car is a little old now but only 29k miles. I have BMW extended warranty.

Was just seeing if its worth a claim or perhaps look to get them repaired at my own cost?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sure I'll take some shots but it's at the garage at present. Soon as its out I'll take some pics. The damage is around the centre cap area. Sems as if the laquer is gone and the wheel is starting to corrode..

Changing the center-caps is very easy and should be done every couple of years; I did mine about a year ago and it looks a lot better.

If it's the wheel itself some Mothers mag-aluminum polish or any other light cut polish leaves them looking like new.

Miami - what is the actual content in that polish you mention? I am unsure if they sell that over here in the UK. The wheels have bubbled up a little on the actual wheel itself where I guess water has got in from underneath. I assumed that was unrepairable unless you have a complete wheel refurb?

I shall try to get pics up but I wont be seeing my car until the later end of this week early next.

Cheers,
Koray

Powder coat?

Hi. Maybe consider getting wheels powder coated? I did mine in semi gloss black. Less visible dust and gave the car and wheels a fresh and new look. Cost about $500.00 when all was said and done (wheels mounted and unmounted). I even had the weights painted black too. I like OEM M6 wheels best on our car and performance wise and looks too. Good luck.
