While I luv my 6-speed M6, if BMW cannot provide written rational why they will not honor a warranty claim, I'd bail on the brand. If they have legit reason for balking at the claim, present it! I imagine one will likely encounter a similar experience regardless of brand, but if it were me, my negative experience would lead me to another make. I currently own two BMWs and would expect to at least have a written explanation of why I'm hosed if I was in this situation. If their explanation held water, I'd have to eat the cost.

*** final update ****

Hey you are correct Indy. I did exactly that. Asked them why an 85K car which is marketed as a sports / high performance car would wear a clutch out after such low miliage - quite simply 3 clutches in under 30,000 miles is unnacceptable. I needed to know what would cause something like that to happen. If they could provide me with a proper reason then Id bite the cost, but they have not been able to find any faults with the clutch or provide me with a reason as to why its worn so bad. Because of the low milage bewteen clutch changes they have rightfully agreed to have the car repaired at the cost of BMW UK.

I think this is great news and even though its taken 2 weeks since my breakdown there is still some solace that BMW have pulled through. I have to say that my experience hasnt been great and I still have reservations about the car. I am obviously happy that they are paying for it and its great to report a good news story from the service centre for once. They have recognised the value of the customer and I for one appreciate that as I was fast losing faith in this brand.

Hopefully they are now able to get the car back to me quickly so i can enjoy it over the weekend rather then having to contact the MD as BMW UK to express my frustrations like I was planning to do.

Take it easy guys!

Excellent news Koray. Still one should wonder though why it has eaten up three clutches in 30K miles. Something weird is definitely happening here, unless you use the launch mode very often.

Anyway, enjoy the beast again. I already miss mine. May I say that I am SO CRAZY, that I keep looking at it when I visit the dealer ( he has it for sale ), that I am tempted to buy it back.

George

Koray, which dealer did you take it to? have you used them previously when the clutch has gone?? Glad they are finally sorting it out for you.

Im currently looking at buying one but also looking at an Aston Martin Vantage V8 although its no M Powered V10! But they have similar issue with clutch going anywhere after 30k depending on how the cars driven.

Great news Koray!!

Glad BMW pulled through and is covering the cost as they should!

Lets us know if they find out why you have been going through so many clutches.

Take care my friend,
Anthony

Which dealer did the repair ??,

I am on my 2nd M6 now after the first one was replaced by BMW Gb due to gearbox issues and £14ks worth of warranty work, I too have also noticed that the mondial warranty is subject to many exclusion clauses. If you have finance with BMW on your car and in the event of any future issue you can always threaten to stop paying for it, this does help hurry bmw along.

It took almost 3 weeks for my 330d to have new turbo fitted, excuses ranged from i was using cheap fuel to the fact that I had missed a pollen filter service, crazy thing is that in the end they fited a new turbo, glow plugs & control unit and steering colmn.

My view is that its best to find a decent dealer and stick to him as they will argue your case

I love all BMW M's and currently own too many! The thing is when I got the M6 I stopped driving all the others because the M6 was just so much better than the rest.. But I have to agree BMW did something wrong with reliability issues on the M5/M6. Ive never had much problems myself, but I know of MANY gearbox issues and engine issues (engine bearing failure after 100 000km)!

Since back in the early 90's when I bought my 1st M3 e36 I have been so spoiled with reliability that we used to never even worry about ANY kind of breakdowns when driving an M. You could drive 1000+km and not even worry about changing oil!

Then the M6 changed all the happy safe feelings when driving your M. What will break today? Gearbox, engine, Vanos, clutch.. the list goes on and on. I TRULY hope BMW sorted all the issues with the new models. NOT IMPRESSED!
