Steering Wheel

Guys

Do you all have this issue with your steering wheels (see pic)? Wonder why this happens - I don't usually touch that area.

Also considering maybe going for an after-market wheel. Been in touch with Ivan at DCT as I like the CF finish on their wheels. Anyone have aftermarket? If so, what brands/companies (plus post pix so can see design).

Thanks!

I dont have that issue and may car is almost 6 years old.

That is usually caused by moisture on fingertips pressed against leather during hot weather.
You can have your steering wheel recolored for about $150.00 and make it like new condition again.

wow Dan that was very fast. lol. Thing is I don't even touch that area. I drive with my left elbow on the door with my index finger in the top curve and where the wheel is peeling is where my thumb goes but my thumb doesn't even touch it so no idea why that's happening -- car doesn't even get parked in the sun for long periods so don't think its the heat! Starting to look ugly imo but instead of re-doing it I'm thinking of something aftermarket and CF!

I think it's because of the oils in your hands mixed with the abrasion of rubbing.

Leather conditioner seems to help but doesn't last long.
