The dealer replaced my steering wheel trim under warranty. But I know its only a matter of time before its start peeling again as these BMW rubberized finish just doesnt last very long so I decided to remove the new trim, stored it in my garage, purchased and installed a Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel Trim.

Here you go: See my post here:

Carbon Fiber Steerring Wheel Trim upgrade

i dont think it has much to do with the fact that quality isnt there, because it also happens on my other cars that have leather. it has something to do with the oils in your hands and the rubbing. it also has happened on some of my friends seats on the headrests.

Let me tell you Hatim, this is caused mainly by perfume/colone on your palms! It's the alcohol that does that! I had this issue on my E39 M5 as well.
