Well, I guess it's my turn...

I just returned to the States after a month-long humanitarian mission to Vietnam. I eagerly jumped into the beast upon my return, only to to be greeted with the infamous yellow cog of death. Yep, the transmission fault---drive with reduced power. After a few minutes of that, the fault goes away and the red cog of death appears. It says I can still drive, but with reduced power as well. Funny thing is, I don't notice the reduction in power. Then that fault goes away. From a stop, the car bucks a little from a stop in 1st (only happened twice). After that, I head to my dealer and all faults go away and it drives flawlessly. I never had to shut the car off for faults to go away, which seems weird. Anyways, my appointment isn't till Wednesday, but they might be able to get me in on Tuesday. Warranty expires in October I believe. 36K miles on the clock BTW. Stay tuned...

Might have just been the car acting up for being stored so much.

Big props for the humanitarian trip, my respects!

Thanks bro. I wish it was just acting up, but the wife drove the car a couple of times while I was gone and it started then. I guess the beast was jealous

I would also guess that it could be happening from weak battery because smg warnings usually do not disappear especially without stopping and restarting the engine. Better to have it checked though.

My story ended up with the replacement of the SMG pump under warranty as well as the clutch and flywheel. Given the life expectancy of the pump i dont expect another problem within the next 40,000 km )))

Best
Ozgur

Ozgur,

I'm not sure if I want it to be something simple or the whole SMG system (so it can be replaced under warranty). I had a brand new battery installed about 2 months ago though, so that most likely isn't the problem.

Hi Brad,

That sucks. I wonder if it is anything like what Dan (whatheheck) had somewhat recently: Transmission Malfunction

Something is very fishy about all these recent out breaks of SMG issues going out right at about 35k-40k all with the same time frame.
