Whats Happening Here - Car Making Strange Noises

No clue whats happening here in this video you will see what i'm on about. Yesterday was the 3rd time driving the car since my Evolve tune. Got the yellow engine failure error then turned car off and then on again and all went well after that. But since then whenever I started the car including this morning (this vid was taken this morning), I would get a very strange ticking sound as you can hear.

Sent the video to Evolve's local agent will be taking my car down to the local BMW garage tomorrow morning to see if they can diagnose the problem. Until then I'm not driving the car for fear that I will make whatever it is worse. This vid was taken after a cold start this morning (I got the cold start delete with my tune) -- drove for around a half hour then parked it and the car was still making ticking sounds. Drove it back home parked in my garage and left the car on and got down to see if the sound was still there and it had gone and the car sounded normal again. Very strange. Anyone see something like this before?

Wish me luck.

Hope you get it figured out brother that doesn't sound to good.

Let us know the diagnosis after you take it in.

No didn't flash back to stock. Could this just be a case of misfiring during the ECU adaptation process?

Not quite sure about that. I would flash back to stock and see if that makes a difference.

Quick update -- took the beast in to my local BMW specialist accompanied by our local Evolve agent (thanks again bro for your help and support if you're reading this). The chief mechanic also heard the ticking though it was faint (unlike the video posted above -- but I showed him the video on my blackberry anyway) - he did a diagnostics scan which produced an error code for the vanos function at bank 1 (passenger side). He bled the vanos and rescanned and both the sound and the error had gone completely. Therefore it doesn't seem to be related to the tune.

He told me to monitor the car over the coming week and if the problem returns to take it to the dealership (since vanos is expensive and since I can claim it under my warranty which is still valid till later in the year).

So drove the car home and all was good as new -- hope it continues this way. Will keep you posted of any further developments.

I dont think that sound is related to the tune. Something is going bad for sure as the ticking noise is not normal.

Kindly keep us posted. Thanks.

As you have probably already seen evolve know how to keep their customers happy! We didn't go to the dealers by the way if we had gone to the dealers they would have taken a week for diagnostics and 3 weeks to fix the problem. If the problem comes back though and I need to replace the vanos I will need to take it to the dealers to do it under warranty.
