Weather and HP :)

Just checking on everyone over here I have been busy doing some mods to the R8 but my vbox data is all over the board because of the weather here lately. I started doing some digging and thought I would share this with everyone.

Check this link out. I just get all the variables off the weather channel and input them. It will give you relative hp to the current conditions. This is what the dynos use for the SAE correction factor too.

I was un happy with an exhaust install and retune of my car even though my vbox data was a fraction better but more inconsistent. Well I started doing some reseach on weather and engines. Turns out I was losing almost 8% hp due to the hot weather, moisture in the air and the pressure.

Engine Tuning Calculator - using dew point

Hope everyone is doing well. I do miss my m6 The sound of the RPi exhaust was just heaven.

So far just APR tune and Milltek Race exhaust. Pushing right at 600 hp at the crank with just those mods my 60 to 130 mph runs went from 10 seconds to about 8 and a half. 0 to 100 times are about 7.6 seconds. It is pretty fast. Biggest thing is it is just nimble conisdering I came from a heavy M6 convertible. Really on the highway the speeds seems the same as my M6.

Wow sounds good it's incredible that your already getting 600 crank. The m6's have such hard trouble reaching that with out a stroker or sc what was ur crank for the m6? My goal for my m6 is to try and reach that with out any major upgrading like stroker and sc

Yeah the R8 is seriously detuned from the factory. BMW did an amazing job on the M5 and M6s. They really don't have much room for improvement. I had all bolt on and headers. I was probably pushing around 570 to 590 at the crank. The car weighed 4,500lbs too though, haha. Headers and a tune will give you by far the most power.

Ya I'm doing the headers soon but the tune is going last after I've completed all my mods; throttle bodies, diff, intake.... i just posted the build thread last night check it out. And It All Starts With The First Mod (Full Build 08 M6)

Yeah I was just reading that. Awesome man! Yeah do the tune the very last stage. And do a dyno tune! The M6 coupes are fast man, real fast! I have seen one run dead even if not a head of a 458 on a highway roll. I dont think anyone really understands that these S85 engines are not meant for 0 to 60s or quarter miles but for high end speed. Once you get them over 100 mph they will fly.

I know after I got my headers my times improved way more than I thought they would at speeds over 100 mph. I had to get headers in my convertible just to stay even with you m6 coupe guys

hahah nice ya i love how it just keeps pulling harder after 100. I was thinking of a diff but not sure how its going to affect the car.
when you mean dyno tune you odnt mean like evolves tune that they just send over you mean taking it to the dyno to have a tuner work on it?

Hey Dustin,

I see you've already got going modding the R8 I finally re-loaded the Evolve tune this week It's a whole new Beast!!

To add to your point about the S85's acceleration past 100.. Check out this M5 video I ran across today. I don't know what mods hes got? It's worth a watch.. Check out the 140 roll at the end of the video!
