I had a very similar issue on my 06 with 19K miles on it. To make a long story short I had taken my car in to this dealership twice for and had the, check the issue, after the first time they blamed it on my battery safety terminal. I take it back two weeks later to replace BST and my entire iDrive craps out on me immediately after leaving the dealership; plus I continue getting RCOD on the dashboard after this. Obviously I was not entirely happy with the dealer but finally take it back to them to replace CCC, get a call later that afternoon saying that while programming the CCC something happened and now they can't select any gears or start the car at all.

I have no warranty at all but dealer had bmwna pay for the fix, only talked to my SA briefly yesterday but he said they installed a new E-motor andt "basically had to replaced the whole tranny". Can't wait to pick it up today and will post back when I get the actual service report

It's a little disconcerting that a lot of these don't seem to have been diagnosed, the dealer just threw parts at it til it worked.

This is the guy who said he can do the job in 3hrs flat! He's done at least 20 clutch smg changes on the m5/6
Any way you can provide this mechanic's contact info?

Thanks!

yes it is usually the pump itself is fine (the pump shaft and cam were all fine on mine....those usually dont go bad) the part # is 23-01-7-841032 for the SMG electric pump

realoem have it listed for around $350

see my other post for my dealership invoice (it was under warranty but you can see what they did)

Some kind of fault code in SMG

Does anyone know what the BMW warranty is for parts installed at the dealer? I know it is two years, but I can't remember the mileage. I am thinking it's 15,000 miles, but not sure.

Thank you for the reply! I was looking over this old thread and saw that my SMG pump went out at nearly 41k miles. I am now at 50k so I was adding up how long my pump would be warranted.
