Vinyl Wrapping... the pros and cons?

so today i was very annoyed... i gave the car a good clean and notices on the front bumper about 100 stone chips....only the bumper though... to make matter worse... also on the bumpe the laquer has started peeling... on a car this age!?! so i looked into getting the bumper resparayed and am looking at about £300.... or i can get the whole car vinyl wrapped in whit for £700... i have been told stone chipping is a lot less likely as is rust etc... but wodered others opinions before i seek this route?

Lifespan will of course vary depending on conditions and quality of the materials used, but 4-5 years would be reasonable to expect. I wrapped all the chrome on my 750i, and when I removed it a year later it showed no sign of wear. I would say the only drawback would be removing the adhesive that is left behind. That, my friend, was a bltch.

As far as color to wrap, I will strongly urge you not to do chrome. Chrome would be better suited for a spoon. Matte White would of course look fantastic. Another color I would consider would be frozen or matte grey with black accents.

Wrapped the top of my roof for 2 years. And when I removed it there was no signs of anything but adhesive. I wouldn't hesitate to do it. The only con would be if you were doing a partial wrap, then the panels would be uneven from the uv fade. Also make sure to use a good wrapper. Common newb mistakes would be to use super glue in hard to adhere corners and use of an exacto knife on the paint, which wouldn't be noticed until after its removed. Also if your planning on selling the car wrapped, I'd take pics of the process so that the future owner understands that your not hiding anything
