What is up with our cup holder?

I never really thought twice about it until I had a friend in the car who asked if I installed it myself. I guess he thought it wasn't a typical cup holder and might have been an afterthought. It does seem a bit odd to have a cup holder just out and about like that, but I find it functional and I think it is pretty cool, but it could be I am just in love...

any thoughts?

Yea, I heard the cup holders arent in the Euro models, and they were a last min add on for the American Market, I think it looks odd to... so odd that I have removed it and keep it in a box in my garage. It works well if you think you have the skills to drink coffee while driving the beast....

Just to share a side anecdote. I have a friend who sells Lambos. For Gallardo, there is a cup hole but it is way back behind the center console, almost at your elbow area. Most American customer's first question is "Where is the cup holder?". After being shown, then the next questions is "What if I knock it over with my elbow?" I rest my case. Do we Americans feel panic when we can not hold the cup to drink while driving? Driving is almost a holy thing between you and your beast and your both hands should be on the wheel while half of the fingers should be on the pedals. If you struggle about reaching that Venti Mocha every 15 seconds, you are really in the wrong car.

couldnt have said it better myself.... we should spend less time drinking coffe, and more time driving.... and JFYI there is another cup holder in the center console but more towards the back in the M, I thoult the same thing when I saw it when detailing my car one day.... we Americans have to remember that when you drive its driving time, go and sit at a cafe if you wanna drink coffee... just sayin

I preferred to keep the cupholder stored in the rear center console. There is a formed spot, made to store it there. However, cell phones fit nicely into it, so I usually just keep my phone in it.

I tried the phone thing once until I hit a corner at about 80 mph and it hit passengers side window

Maybe the cupholder needs a seatbelt!

We've got cupholders too in Europe. I am absolutely positive that I read somewhere that they completely forgot to design it in. It's been openly admitted that the design team made a bit of an error on that front!
