I don't know that there's an agenda, but BMW staff definitely frequent BMW forums. Anytime I'm at my dealer for maintenance and start talking shop about SMG issues or fuel injection problems etc they always say "Well have you been checking the forums? These guys seem to having this issue... blah blah blah"

What's unsettling is what if this thread gives someone from BMW an idea??? Happy modding guys

OK, I will admit, its me.

FYI, BMW pays me a monthly salary to monitor this board to see which ones of you are modifying your beast. That way when warranty claims come - I will forward the information I learned on this board to your local dealership so they can deny your warranty claim.

And for every beast I snitch to BMW - I get a $10 bonus. And believe me - I have made a lot of money already so you all watch out, the word is now out.

And BTW, FYI, BMW has implanted a tracking device on your Nav system from the factory. BMW can and does track your whereabouts every second, every minute of the day, and they eMail the report to your wife every week except on pubic holidays.

How would that affect my track day activities?

Are your mods paid for from your BMW derived income? Do you report on yourself when you take your car in or do you need a third party impartial snitch? How do I get in on this action?

+1

I've talked to my local BMW SA and he told me that the techs check the boards quite often. I seriously doubt that there's any organized efforts to deny warranty claims behind this, but I think this gives them some insight into our issues/complaints. I think it's pretty cool that these guys love the cars enough to join the boards and get our perspective on the good, bad, and ugly.

It wont. Track days are exempt and not being tracked. BMW supports this activity : )

Are your mods paid for from your BMW derived income?
Yes, all my mod money come from what I earn reporting all you guys to BMW Corporate Office in Germany. $10 for each report.
I've been on this board now for over 6 years and made loads of money. Tax exempt too!

Do you report on yourself when you take your car in or do you need a third party impartial snitch?
I am exempt. I can mod my beast all I want without ramifications. One of the perks of being an authorized BMW snitch.

How do I get in on this action?
You need to apply for the position on a top secret website. Once selected, they will fly you to Germany for 90 day hands on training. You will be sequestered and there will be no communications / no contact with the outside world whatsoever while in training. Not even your wife and kids.

Ex wives can come visit you on weekends. Conjugal visits with the ex wife are allowed every 3rd week of the month but only for 2 minutes max, no exceptions.

The action will be aired live, will be video taped, burned to DVD and sold later in QVC.

There is some truth to this.....not sure about BMW, but there is some spying going on out there on forums.

My scenario.......I had bought a remanufactured long block for my Nissan from Jasper Engines. The reason I bought it from them was because it came with a 3 yr/100000 warranty. After installing it and following their break-in procedures to a tee, I started having fun with it. I put just under 10k miles on it, then ended up running lean and detonating, and ended up bending a rod. I pulled the motor back out, stripped it back down to the long block, and sent it back to Jasper so they could inspect it for warranty purposes. After a few days a rep called me and said we saw your mod list on a forum and the mods you have void the warranty. He started reading off the mod list; "larger turbo, larger injectors", etc, etc. I was so shocked they discovered this, I didn't know what to say...lol. On the forum my username was my first name...but that's it. They must have put the pieces together (car make, city, username, email address linked to my username on the forum). They basically said sorry we can't help you since you have modded the engine.....even though come to find out they used re-manufactured rods, which is a huge no no. They sent me back the long block and it's been sitting in my garage ever since. So if some crappy engine re-manufacturer takes the time to spy in forums to void warranties, I'm willing to bet BMW and other car manufactures do the same.
