Carbon Fiber Roof Damaged...Pics

Here are some pics of an M6 with the damaged roof. It's basically a little bigger than the size of my hand. What is the best way to get this fixed? Also, will BMW cover this with the manufacture's warranty? The weave pattern of the carbon fiber is no longer visible and obviously the clear coat is gone in that section. The car is currently being sold and I might purchase the M6.

I've used the search feature and still need some support.

Wow that is pretty bad- I would think the original MFG warranty (if it is still active) would fix this if it wasn't caused by 'normal' wear and tear. I actually have a chip on mine that I noticed the other day, but nothing like that. Maybe I should fill the chip with some clear coat or something. What year is the car? Do you know what caused the damage?

i have some damage to mine as well, its the size of 2"x1". Bird crap ate threw the clear. if you keep it exposed the sun will fade that portion. so covered mine with some black vinyl tape. I believe you just need to get the clear coat redone. my problem is that i dont know of a shop that i trust with it.

That looks pretty bad. I do not know of any shops that can handle a job working on BMWs let alone M cars other than BMW themselves. They are obviously going to be rediculously expensive.

You can probably just touch up yours with clear coat (like from a touch up paint kit).

For the OP, that's bad news. I'd find out the real price for a repair before even thinking of making an offer on the car.

I had the same problem. I went to my buddy's car shop and they came with the idea to completely peel off the finish on top of the carbon fiber. Than they applied a new finish on top of the whole roof. The result is unique. Absolutely the same looks as stock but to my oppinion it's much much more rigid. It's holding for two years perfectly. If you want i can post pictures.

Wow that must have been a bit nerve racking! Has anyone identified how the problem begins, does it start off like my small chip? Is from something much larger like a golf ball smashing in?

I just filled my chip moments ago with clearcoat.
