Hi Mimi,

Great idea!!! I do find it annoying that you have to enable it when you park/drive straight in. The only challenge I see with this is if you're stuck in traffic and the thing beeping away - I assume the manual disable would still work but how frequent would it trigger - any timeout etc etc.

Great suggestion though - not sure if there's anything in the Nettodat

I've got a good working NCS Expert for my 2008 635d and I have my mate coming around in a few hours who wants me to code his 335d also a 2008 model.

Do I need to bear anything in mind apart from the module naming convention that may be slightly different?

Is there a diff profile I need to load up for the 335d - i.e. Would 'Revtor's NCS Expert Profile' work?

Appreciate any pointers.

I'm not sure if the profile will work. I had trouble early on with other model profiles for the E63-4. Try it youll know pretty early on You will likely need newer daten files however. Each post I have made, including the links throughput this thread only contain newer E6x daten files. You may have to get an extract of daten versions newer than what came with NCSExpert from this original post for the 3 series Other than that, the procedure should be the same.

I have posted a number of .TRC files from my 2010 M6 here: BMW E63 M6 .TRC Files (17-JUL-2011)
The password is my license plate. If you don't know what it is, search the Board or send me a PM. I won't post it here.
Some of these files have been modified, so they are not all stock.
There are no files for the following (which I suspect don't exist on a 2010 car): 2MULF, CID, TCUM, ZBE2
I will remove these after a while, but for now, go get 'em if you need them.

Thanks Mark, these might help figure this 6NR thing out, (iPhone BMW Connected Apps, Facebook, Twitter, etc) for our models.

Appreciate it!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no 6NR on E6x and same for the very last product... Think you have to look to F10 or last E9x files for that

Ah yes. Good point. I recall seeing that was the method used to enable. Mirroring lines if code from the E9x. Thanks for reminding me

Tools update

Update to BMW tools guys: https://rapidshare.com/files/980891824/setup_2100.zip

This contains the BMW Service Tools installer with the latest INPA 5.0.2.0, NCSEXPERT 1.0.0.1, EDIABAS 7.2.0 2.0, and the latest other tools such as Tool32 etc. Works fine, i've installed this just now, it will prompt for the file locations of existing directories, just point them, and the installer will do the rest. The only thing I had to do was blank the .TRC in the work folder before the first module read would work correctly. I had to do this upgrade to enable the reading of the latest modules which are being retrofitted to our cars from the 2011 range. I also updated the E89 daten(E90) folder using V41 daten files, you'll see why in the next part.

For those of you experimenting with modules never installed in E63, who want to read things such as combox etc. I have found out that you can use a SSD file which simulates the latest E90, to effectively bypass the VIN identification stage of NCS Expert and allow you to read those new modules which now exist in your vehicle. I've attached the file to here as a txt file, simply rename the file ending to .ssd. Instructions and file excepted from 5series.net, thanks to the guys over there for sharing the knowledge:

1. In NCS after you choose the Profile, click the VIN button.
2. Then instead of clicking the ZCS button you choose "Open File".
3. Then point to your ssd file. That will fool NCS into thinking the car is anything with any VO. Basically does not look at the car.
4. Click the back button and now you are in the normal NCS except its using a different car/vin/vo to what you have. In that list you will see the MEDIA ecu listed.
