Chip, welcome to the forum.

The pictures are purposely covering select instructions so that the program will work on our E63-64's. Is there a particular step you are stuck on?

I got it working last night. I had to desolder pin 8 on my new cable. The only one I am having trouble with is making the navigation map my default screen. I have changed the va_fb_navigation aktiv in the CAPPL module to no avail. Also, is there a way to upgrade the Idrive software? I thought i read where someone had done this and it made it faster.

Ref: Nav default to Navigation.

That is the correct coding for the iDrive to default to the NAV screen upon startup. Here are a couple of reasons why it may not be defaulting to NAV
- Legal Disclaimer must be nicht_aktiv as well CAPPL module legal_discl >nicht_aktiv
- There may be additional defaults set to aktiv in addition to va_fb_navigation, such as va_fb_entertainment, or some other. They may be in conflict. All others should be nicht_aktiv
- You haven't let the CAPPL module completely reboot (10 min or so), and it is working
- The line of code did not take

To your question regarding upgrading iDrive or module firmware/sw. the answer is no, with NCS or INPA. That requires SW that is more complex. If you wish to upgrade your iDrive controller physically, you can. If you wish to upgarde the CAPPL module to the newer CIC module, with or without the physical controller, you can as well.

I just enabled real time internet access via BT. Yup, you read me correctly.

Also I started using the iPhone app BMW Connected. I will explain that in an upcoming thread I will create....and, I have my iPhone screen display whatever is on it, including mail, at will.

I'm overwhelmed with the possibilities. just finished two days worth of a tvandnav2go video interface removal and reinstall of a newer version, removal of Dension 500. Just don't need it any longer, and a number of other older mods.

Still not working. I only get the regular default screen reguardless of which one I change to aktiv. Only one VA_FB_* is aktiv. I have the legal disclaimer already removed. Is there something else that has to be changed? When I read it back to the file it is set to aktiv.

I have since upgraded to the new CIC module, but this is an extract from my working CAPPL module that defaulted to the Entertainment Screen, specifically the last entertainment option I had on prior to car off. SAT, FM, CD as examples

Unless Entertainment is the only real default option, make sure the line of code VA_FB is set to nicht_aktiv as below. That may make a difference

This was my CAPPL 4 lines of code. Perhaps attaching your current FSW_PSW.TRC readout (as a .txt file), it may give a clue
