Autologic Performance tune?

My mechanic has been letting me mess around with his autologic and I am considering doing the performance tune. The Autologic guys say it gives you 20HP and 25 torque along with increases in throttle response. The price is very cheap and the mod is easy to do and undectable by BMW.

Thoughts?

How is it undetectable by BMW?

I dont know about M6, but when I had my E39 M5, I had Powerchip ECU tune and they are correct - software ECU change is undetected by BMW.

However, if the dealership updates your software for service bulletin issues for example - you will need to reload the aftermarket software which they call ECU reflash.

If they can show hard dyno facts on HP and Torque increase and price is indeed reasonable - count me in.

Hi guys,
My understanding is that the cost is about $300-$400 (dependant on if my mechanic charges me; my guess is he won't as I do all the updates to my car personally). I can only go by what Autologic said when I called them but they were quite firm in that it will not be detectable by BMW. As far as stats or personal experience to back up the performance...thats why I posted :) I was hoping someone who has done this could chime in on any performance gains or changes in throttle response. I don't really care about what the numbers on paper say, I want to FEEL a difference. Again, the rep told me I would absolutly notice a difference in performance.

I'm skepticle, but the price is cheap...I just wish someone had done this before me.

I hope you all can work this out, but after 4 years of owning a M6, being quite active on M6 board, and trying almost every s/w tune out there - I'm thinking gullible....????? :nono:

The biggest problem you have is proof of HP gain - I have dyno'd my car so many times and repeated it so many times, with very different results even on the same day and same mods - I don't trust any dyno anywhere !! Ambient air temp and barometric air pressure can affect the results - heck almost everything affects the results. There is no such thing as a real baseline or valuable after mod dyno, IMO. Unless you can get your car into a full atmospheric chamber with a very powerful wind tunnel attached to it - there is no such thing as any valuable dyno comparison.

I agree with Snowball.

I have dynoed my M5 many times, have dynoed my M6 twice now with different results.
I dont trust any of them anymore as there are so many possible conditions that can affect the outcome.

I trust my butt-o-meter more than any Dyno out there.

And you can ask Ajax, you put 5 gallons of 101 octane on your beast and you wont need to take your beast to any stinking dyno.

The smile alone you will get on your face after putting in 101 trick gas is enough proof you have increased your engine's power.

In fact, I went and got some more trick gas yesterday and I was all smiles driving to work this morning.

I totally agree with you guys and thats why I was looking for some feedback from somone who actually got the update. I could care less if it actualy makes more power on a dyno; I want to feel a change in performance. That could be changes in throttle response or maybe some better low end power.

Auto Logic Performance Tune

I know this is an old thread but I didn't see any final postings for the results of an Autologic Performance Tune.

My 2009 M5 is out of warranty and it's going into the shop tomorrow to receive the Autologic performance tune. It's going to cost $600 and I've been told by the owner (who personally owns 3 M cars including the new one) that I will be very happy!

I won't be putting the car on the dyno...as someone previously put it I'm gong to use the butt-o-meter to see if the extra torque, smoother shifting, and better throttle response improve the normal daily driving experience. I will let you all know the result.

I had Mike Benvo flash my '07 convertible and I noticed the difference. Mid range first gear stomp go pedal and lights'em up. Serious wheel spin on shift to 2nd. The car hauls the mail. Faster than stock and you can feel it, all without 100 octane mixer to get gas up to spec 93. Even after all these year, these cars show well , especially at insane speeds with their ground effects and diffussors.

Autologic Tune Complete - First Impressions

I'm following up on my previous post stating that I was having the Autologic tune loaded onto my 2009 M5 SMG.

I'm about a month into it and I'm VERY happy with the day to day driving changes. The shifting is significantly smoother in D mode.

In M mode I'm very surprised and happy with the feel. Throttle response is better and the hard pull starts at significantly lower RPMs. Instead of really pulling and breaking traction at 6k it start really pulling at 2k. The smile was always good...but now the smile is even bigger.

I paid $600 to have it professionally installed in Delaware.

Mdiamond where in DE did you have this AutoLogic tune completed? What was the name of the shop? I'm considering to get this tune done on my 08 M5 as well and i also heard that AutoLogic not only was reasonable but legit as well. Seems as though you seemed pretty happen with the turn out. Looking to do mine ASAP. Let me know where in DE if you can. Thanks

Hey guys!!!! I just had my Autologic tune completed today in DE. At Rosehill Automotive, I was there with the owner Lue and watched the transformation begin. I can def tell the difference with smoother shifting with the SMG. I was the governor was removed (haven't tried to max the car out yet) to ensure that this was the case. I will continue to monitor and check back in after I take it for more runs. HP gains according to Autologic is about 20HP and I can def feel the pull. Also driving in regular 400 mode the car will spin sideways left to right without having to be in M mode. Plan to do pulley and exhaust then Dyno. Will keep you posted

Glad to se a couple of members have gotten this tune! I am still sitting on the fence but this and the CAT delete are tops only list. I do have a place on the jersey shore that can do this if anyone is interested...

To Irish bimmer trust me when I tell you we aren't going cheap with the tune but rather not buying into the hype of certain name brands such as Evolve, ess tuning etc they All do the same thing bro.. It's programming, rev limiter lifted, governor removed, better fuel etc and Autologic has been around alot longer than some of these companies out there. Basically why will I pay 2k to get the same "HP & torque potential gains" that I can get with Autologic.. It's all about the branding and for the price that Autologic charge it's very very fair and you notice the difference immediately... I would recommend doing the under drive pulley and and you will really see te difference in low end torque... So my point really is Autologic is very solid, reasonable, and give the same gains as others who are breaking our balls charging 1500 to 2k...

I understand...just awhile back, there was another thread with a review of changing from a well-known and respected vendor to another and the clear differences in performance and service. I too thought all tunes were pretty much the same, but apparently, they are not. Drive safely!

I can say one thing, evolve is no hype, they have tuned more S85 then anyone in the world and dyno'd more then anyone in the world. They understand this engine well and that is why it can be felt when driving on their tune. irishbimmer nailed it on the head, this isnt a chevy LS motor, its a bit more complicated to tune to get vanos in sync and everything working in harmony. Seems alot of tuners have a hard time getting this engine to be consistent on back to back runs. Really, everyone gets a tune and is satisfied by the intial runs, but its not until you compare and try different tunes on the same car that things become more clear. Evolve tune is around $800 with their cable, its not very expensive for a proven product imho.

I havent heard much about autologic for the S85 tune or have tried it, so i cant directly +/- them of course, but i know one thing from flashing and tuning bmw's for years, You can never get it 100% the first time.Revisions and tuning changes are almost always needed. Evolve has gone through multiple changes/revisions through the years of perfecting their tune ( Somewhere around 3 full tuning changes/revisions for their S85 tune)
Im tuneless but i will be going with evolve because they are tested for years by members and know the engine well. All that matters at the end is if your tuning experience and driving experience is positive and works! If it does then its money well spent for some.

Drive safe fellow V10ers

Hey fellow M lovers I agree with you both... I'm not disagreeing honestly, I was saying that I got some
Great gains and noticeable differences without having to spend soooo much you know. But yes evolve have done some wonders as I've seen online and I know they are respected... It's so many companies now doing this tuning it's crazy just don't know where to go anymore but Autologic has done alright for me thus far for the price....
